Hello, I like recommendations from you people on either a good loud combo or a half stack. I like something w/ a good clean sound and
AC/DC type crunch. My possible considerations are Marshall DSL 2000 50 watt, Marshall plexi reissue 50 watt, 5150 combo, 5150 amp. Any others? All suggestions will be greatly appreciated

I don't own the 5150 amp but I've played thru it before and I'd suggest that one first. Check out a Marshall or even Crate has a new tube amp that kicks too.

I didn't want to start a new thread just to say this but I need some strings. So I was in the mall(that is Braintree Southshore Mall in Mass. for those near me) and I went to a record store where they sell strings. Anywho.....these friggin' dinkweeds wanted 9 bucks for a pack of Ernie Ball Super Slinky 9's!!! They are 5 bucks at my music store!!!

Damn Swollen, outrageous for slinkys. When I went to NYC, they had Dean Markley blue steels for five bucks, so I loaded up.

Try a Crate DX212 Digital Modeling amp. You'll be surprised at the different sounds this amp can produce. Great tone and inexpensive...arond $600.00. I like the Line 6 as well. If you just want killer distortion and that " Eddie" tone, obviously you would want to pick up the 5150. I like so many different sounds because I play and listen to a variety of music so it was easier for me to get a digital modeling amp to recreate the the sound of my favorite amps.

I play Wolfgangs thru a 5150 combo and yes I can get a really good AC/DC sound.
I think the combo is a little warmer than the 5150 head. I'd give the combo some serious consideration.

Just for the record, I pay 10.50 for three packs of strings. (whats that, like 3.50 each). anyway, The stores I deal with know that if they stick to this price on strings I will spend the bigger money with them.
Beg and plead if you have to, but a real guitar shop will sell them pretty cheap to get business.

Try a 5150, but I don't know about a clean channel, it's not really a clean channel as it's more of a Marshall tone channel.

Also try a Boogie ,(if you have the cash) A plexi has one good sound and it's not particularly clean!
