Well, knowning EVH, I doubt the 5150's would be for sale. I bet they are just displays. The wolf looks pretty sweet, I wonder what it sounds like.
Your favorite band sucks.

First of all, that Wolfgang is fucking SWEET!
Secondly, why have the striped 5150's there if they have no intention of selling them like that?
Seems strange to me.

Perhaps this is what prompted Ed to copyright the stripes and such...Maybe Peavey is gonna sell 'em...

I think you nailed it, why else would he be so militant about copyright infringement if there wasn't a marketing strategy behind it?

The tiger-eye Wolfie is smokin', and if they put that bad boy out, I might just have to drop the hammer on one!

I see some red stuff too, not stripes as much as dots.

According to Peavey, EVH won't let them stripe and sell the Wolfgangs or the 5150's. Roger, do you have any info on this?

I just think it's a tease for people to see what they want, but still not be able to buy it. Oh well, I guess you could say Ed made the NAMM show in spirit.

My whole feeling with this copyright issue is soon we are going to see some stuff made with the design. Why would he be paying a law firm to scour the internet and all other places to make sure that nothing is being sold with the stripe design? To me this move is a money making move.

Yes, those are the new graphics for the 5150 amps. From now on, all 5150s will have the stripes.....NOT! (sorry)

Actually those are just one-off display models we did, to take to trade shows and such. Just eye candy so to speak.
We will probably never offer for sale anything like that, except maybe as a limited edition or something.

There is a large glass walled room (we called it the fishbowl around here) at Hartley's office with display units and such. It wouldn't surprise me if they didn't eventually end up over there, unless Ed wants them or something. Last time I was over that way, the "FrankenWolf" was hanging in there.

If anyone thinks that the trademark issue is all about the money, consider this: Ed could have already made a shitload of money selling striped guitars, and amps too for that matter. Don't think Peavey hasn't made the offer. There are several products that I know of in his pocket right now, just waiting for the sign off. All he has to do is say "go with it".

What do you think an honest-to-God official striped Eddie Van Halen guitar would be worth at auction, no matter who made it? How about one with his autograph? I am sure that he is as motivated by money as the next guy, but my impression has always been that the stripes are what EVH considers his personal trademark.
I guess he could change his mind tomorrow (or yesterday for all I would know), but so far the answer is "no stripes".

Think what you want, but IMO Eddie AND Hartley could both be making tons more money than they are, if that was all they cared about.

My only hesitation on buying a 5150 II stack, is that they look plain and ugly compard to a marshal stack. I would definetly buy this one.

Did you guys say that Ed has got a copyright on the stripe design now? I didn't think you could copyright colors going back and forth. I mean the design is so obscure and has varied in color and format over the years. Is the black and white Frankenstrat design also copyrighted? Dame can I put red, white, and black in parallel stripes on my guitar Ed? Well if Peavey was to come out with a striped guitar or amp in the future then Ed made a money making move to copyright it like you guys said!
