I've owned a 5150 120 watt head for 4-years and have completely loved every minute of it.

Because I play in a VH tribute band, I purchased a 5150 II to gain (no pun intended) a little more versatility e.g. beginning of Mean Street, clean part in Hot For Teacher and Romeo's, extra volume and gain for leads, etc.

So far, I love the 5150 II. It has everything the 5150 has and more.

I was just curious where some of you have been setting your dials to get an awesome VH tone.

Currently from left to right (starting at the pre-rhythm dial), my dials are set at: 7-6-2-5-2-6-6-2-5-2-5-6-4-6

My mids are set at 2 because it shows them at 2 in the owners manual as the "signature" settings.

    Thank you.

I owned the 5150 II at one point and the only difference between the 2 amps was that the "II" had seperate EQ's for both channel's and that was it. There was no difference in gain and volume. They're both 120 watts. And I think when it comes to versatility, the 5150 and teh 5150 II amps are pretty 1-dimensional amps. One channel has a lot of gain, and the other has less. The clean channel is BARLEY a clean channel. It's not clean at all.

As for the mids, bring them up when you're playing loud. Otherwise, with that amp, you sound like mush if you don't. That's only me. If you find a difference in the amps and YOU like your settings then it's all good, bros.

Here is a database of different 5150 settings: http://www.wolfgangregistry.com/5150...-settings.html

You can also store your own settings in the database.
