how can i easily mount a humbucker into my guitar directly into the wood? Its there an easy way to do it or just screw it in? Will i still be able to adjust the height like this? How stable will it be if i simply screw it right in?

both my Hamers have pickups mounted into the wood, but they have little threaded inserts screwed into the wood that the pickup screw goes into. the spring mounts the same way as it does when the pickup is on a pickguard...

i've been looking for some more of the little buggers myself...i don't want to use just a wood screw, i think it'll strip out too easily.

here, i found some...just called "threaded inserts," duh...only thing is, they come in a bag of 10. found them at www.woodcraft.com . maybe Rol can give us some input as to how he mounts the pickups into the wood...

but then i'd need to find some screws to fit them. smallest ones take either a 6-30 or 8-32 screw, maybe not small enough.

Ha !!! are you kidding ??? have you seen the way EVH mounted the pickups in the franky??, they were nailed and the pickup risers were bent and cut, on the 5150 they just routed it down to a depth where the pickup was at the right height
and screwed in with tuners screws, that is what I do for the 5150, the franky I have to build a shlf and mount it into that since the pickups I use don't come with high risers. I try to stay as true to the real thing as possible.

    later,
    Rol.
