The MXR Flanger is the only one I've found that you can get that "Unchained Choog" as I call it. Of course the reason behind that is Edward uses the MXR flanger. I've used a lot of flangers over the years, and this one is the best to my ears. Most are very generic in their tone, but the MXR is in a catagory of it's own.

THe MXR is much better than the Boss or DOD. THe MXR seems to have a warmer tone not just for emulating eddie but for other stuff. To my ear it adds a little more to the tone than the Boss or DOD.
Just my opinion, take it for what its worth

The MXR rules i play through some shitty gear but the MXR just gives a much warmer tone than any other flanger ive heard except the ada flanger (if you can find one) I know they are a little pricey but look at the money you save on batteries. Listen to the last cchord before the end of Loss of Control that is the essence of the MXR. If you want to crank up drop down to "D" and play Unchained you NEED the mxr. A Boss wont do.

Boss flanger = flat, cold, artificial, no good sounds

    MXR flanger = SWEET

    The ADA is the BOMB!

I've found that the MXR is a little subtle, the ADA is really strong and yet retains a great warmth to your sound. But, you can still dial in that cool metallic ringing sound that flangers are used for too.

It can also get that classic jet swoosh from Unchained.
