which pickup position do you Strat players prefer????

for me it's the front all the way!

I can't even remember the last time I used the back one

Front being the bridge?

I'm in the bridge pickup all the time, at least damn near all the time, then when I'm looking for a cleaner tone, I go to the second position, a combo of the middle and the bridge.

I play a 64 BlackFace Bandmaster. It works out like this, if I play in the bridge position, the amp naturally overdrives, when I click to the other combo, I'm clean. Just that easy.
You know the best tone I ever had was with that little bandmaster cranked to 10. Edward Van Halen, 1980, Guitar Player Magazine.

I love the 4th position(middle/neck), and use that for most chording and some soloing. For most soloing on a strat I like the 5th and middle positions, and sometimes the 2nd position for a quack kind of tone. I flip the switch around a lot when playing a strat, because the sound can become repetitious in one position after awhile, so I tend to flip it at least 6 or 7 times during most songs.

What Tribb said. #2 and 4, for a lot stuff, but depending on what I'm doing, I use em all pretty much.

A strat is also the only guitar I use the tone knob on.

I added one push-pull pot to get the 7 basic combinations, and the only ones that do NOT get used much are the middle by itself and the bridge/neck combo. When I decide to weasel in a phase switch, then I'll be using that one, too! But there's little room left for another push/pull, and I don't wanna add a toggle, so I'll hafta figger sumthin else out with the one I've got in there.

I only like the bridge pickup for soloing, but that bridge/neck combination is "the" original strat sound to me.
I've got an ultralight alder body and seymour duncan alnico pro II's as pickups and they're awsome for that early strat tone.
And you know what? Wengie like's 'em too.

Not a real big fan of the Wolfie, don't own one, and probably won't either. An EVHMM is a completely different story though! lol

I don't. We lefties are overlooked

I have a Fender Strat and use the bridge pickup almost exclusively. I have a Crate GX15R amp, so the neck pickup dudn't sound too good.

I agree with tribb, the 4th position has a great sound. I bought one of the new American Series Strats with an ash body earlier this year, and it is a fantastic guitar. A nice change from humbucker domination.
