I bet you guys might have talked about this already...but I just got Dweezil's latest album Automatic. Man, there is some great playing on this! Definitly hear the old school eddie influence in him. Anyone else have this?

peace...

I've not yet heard it, but some folks were discussing/raving over "Purple Guitar"? ( I think that's the cut ) Some even thought it was a new instrumental track from EVH.

Also, check out Dweezil's two cuts from his Wiggy Amp page,

http://www.peavey.com/events/wiggy.html

Killer stuff.

Dweezil's always been a favorite of mine too.
Have you noticed how he looks more his dad Frank every year?

Yeah, I picked this up too. Some great guitar playing on this album. As well as starting to more look like his father, his album's are more starting to sound like his father's. And I mean that in a good way. He also seems like to be an easy going guy with a great sense of humour.

Yea, I meant it in a good way too. Dweezil seems to have inherited his father's musical ability, as well as his sense of humour.

Yeah, I know you meant it in a good way as well. By that statement I wanted to make sure that people didn't think that I just thought Dweezil was rehashing his father's musical style. With a father like Frank, of course he is going to have an huge influence on you. Most of Dweezil's previous releases have been pretty much hard rock with the Zappa bent humour, but with Automatic it seems a lot more diverse. A lot more of Frank's influence can be seen on this album.

That's one album I actually meant to pick up when I first heard about it and never did. I have to make a note to myself to pick it up.
They say the first thing to go is your memory..
When I first heard Frank's albums, I thought he was making it up as he went along, not realizing that he was Berkley trained, and every note was written down.
That's one reason why I have so much respect for Steve Vai too. He's one of the few guitarists who can compose a song with a pencil and paper, not needing an instrument in front of him.
When he transcribed Zappa's material I read that he could write it down as he was listening to it.
Some of these guys are amazing.

Yeah, gtrhead4life, the track Purple Guitar is GREAT!
I like the track from the peavey page too...though I have to say I think that amp is rather ugly lookin.

And of course, thanks for Frank. Recently finished reading his autobiography, which was a fun read for the most part.

Where the hell can I get a DZ CD these days? I've been looking for them for ages.
