Hey guys, haven't been into guitars much lately, but thinking a better effects unit would inspire me a little more! I haven't had much success with my GFX-707 pedal, it sounds really weak. Any suggestions? I have a Wolf Special and use a PV Transtube Bandit. I basically like both early and especially the FUCK cd sounds as far as EVH goes. Note, I am not obsessed with sounding just like Ed, I just want a basic kick ass and scream tone. I read the POD thread, this might be what I am looking for, but and suggestions? Keep in mind I am fairly poor. I am pretty much just a bedroom rocker. Maybe some sound bites if anyone has?

hmm, i´m very happy with some rack units...

mostly i use the 5150 head with a digitech Studio 200, both of them goes thru my hughes & kettner attax amp...

this digitech rack unit has all effects i need, and you can make a very good sound out of it... i think you can get very close with a bandit to the f.u.c.k sound if you´re going to buy a rack effect, and the digitech has it all in a good quality (even a good harmonizer!), and it´s cheap... i bought it 3 years ago for 200 bucks...

hope this helps

I'm still using a Digitech DSP 128 plus.
The reverb and delays are excellent and I think it cost me $300aus!
The plus is cool because it has the footswitch option so you can hook it up to any momentary action switch and change programs without having to fork out for a midi foot controller.

As far as rack stuff goes the TC Electronics G - Major is a great little unit. A lot of high quality effects in one box.

Personally analog stompboxes do it for me.

If your looking for something to use as a preamp with built in effects I have to recommend that you try the Johnson J-Station. It does what the POD does for half the price. IMO it does some amp models a little better.
