    Here's my take,
    I'll take the best element out of each band and rate that one element on a scale from one to 10 as a musician:

    What do you think of these bands as musicians (guitarists, bassists, drummers, etc.)?
    1. Bon Jovi

    Richie Sambora gets a 9. He's one of the most amazingly soulful, intelligent players of the decade (and this one).

    2. Def Leppard

    Joe Elliot gets an 8. His voice and melody writing is rarely matched.

    3. Guns-n-Roses

    Slash gets a 5. He's technically good but IMHO, everything he's done on the guitar has been done before....the rest of the band would have gotten 4s

    4. Iron Maiden

    Steve Harris gets an 8. His bass playing is what makes this band and he's inspired millions including John Myung from Dream Theater.

    5. Judas Priest

    I'm going to get flamed for this, but I think Halford's voice was nothing spectacular. He was born with a high pitched screamer of a voice, nothing exciting. I also thought his village people biker image was rediculous, irrespective of his sexual orientation. He gets a 3. The rest of the band got 2s due to idiot shite like "Breaking the law"

    6. Motley Crue

    Tommy Lee gets a 9. Fabulous R&R drummer. The rest of the band would have gotten 2s for being rediculously shitty musicians.

    7. Poison

    Bret Michaels gets a 7 for being an incredible showman....dont ask me about CC....

    8. Scorpions

    Pick any member of the band, and they get a 1. Pure german shite....

    9. Whitesnake

    David Coverdale gets a 10 for having one of the best voices in R&R

    10. White Lion

    Vito Bratta was the best guitarist to ever play in the 80s...hands down.

    1. Bon Jovi;
    Cashed in on the hole that was created when Def Lep was on hold due to Rick Allens accident, sambora is a first class guitarist

    2. Def Leppard;
    After High & Dry they sucked

    3. Guns-n-Roses
    If only Axl wasnt such an asshole, may still be the best at their game

    4. Iron Maiden;
    What can be said about these guys that hasn't been said a million times over? Epic metal at it's finest!

    5. Judas Priest;
    With Halford, awesome!
    With Owens, extreamly under rated

    6. Motley Crue;
    Took the Kiss formula, kicked it up a notch, & flat out rocked.. I think they should either get back to basics, or hang it up.. which i think they are doing anyway.

    7. Poison;
    C.C. is a pisser & should have his own talk show!

    8. Scorpions;
    Could take 'em, or leave 'em

    9. Whitesnake;
    Call me cheesy, but I ALWAYS liked them!

    10. Any other 80s bands you want to add
    White Lion;
    I have to agree, Vito Bratta was an animal!

    1. Bon Jovi
    except for Sambora, i'd say they are cheesy pop
    2. Def Leppard
    don't like em don't hate em
    3. Guns-n-Roses
    ditto #2
    4. Iron Maiden
    Maiden kicks ass..Steve Harris is possibly one of the best metal lyricists, Bruce has an amazing voice, and Nicko is a very underrated drummer
    5. Judas Priest
    Halford has an amazing voice..he is THE metal god, K.K. and Glen's dueling guitars are awesome, genuine bad-asses of metal
    6. Motley Crue
    overrated IMO take away the make-up and they are nothing
    7. Poison
    i think they have some catchy tunes..swamp juice is a kick ass instrumental
    8. Scorpions
    Michael Schenker is very underrated..and in the early days Uli was amazing with them
    9. Whitesnake
    put aside the stereotypical hair band image and they are awesome..very Rainbow-like(shared a few members over the days i think)..Vai ruled with them
    10. Triumph
    Rik Emmett is possibly one of the best classical guitarists in rock..next to Randy Rhoads of course, very underrated band
    Van Halen kicks ass!

    Ooh Triumph...

    Another facet of Rik Emmett that rarely gets the attention it deserves is his singing and songwriting!

    He's got an amazing voice...

    This is the ONLY thing I found on Vito;

    We, 24 Oct 2001
    Yes I do think it was a great group. And the years we had was lot's of fun.
    Vito lives in New York where he always have lived. He is not doing any music, but sticking to his privacy.
    There won't be a White Lion resurrection.
    Vito put down his guitar many years ago.
    Still I will keep on playing my rock'n'roll.

    1.Bon Jovi
    A good Jersey band. Sambora is tops and If you ever see his solo album in a store - buy it!

    2. Def Leppard.
    Great songs. Not great musicians but took what they had and made it work.

    3. Guns & Roses.
    Some great songs and Slash is a good guitarist for what he does. He has a style that you can spot a mile away.

    4. Iron Maiden.
    I'm not big on them but that is my problem.

    5. Judas Priest.
    Glen Tipton and K.K.Downing were a great team. Rob Halford is cool too. Some of the greatest songs in Metaldom came from this band.

    6. Motley Crue.
    Hey, they were an LA band...what do you expect. Creative use of umlauts though. Tommy Lee was probably the best musician in the band but I'm biased because I met the guy back in the day and he's good people.

    7. Poison.
    Hey, they were an LA band too. You can see where this review is going so I won't waste your time.

    8. Scorpions.
    Fucking great band! From Herman Ze German on drums to Mathias and Rudolf on guitars definatley first class. Their amps sounded great too. Fuckin' take the top of your skull off.

    9. Whitesnake.
    Well...you can make a case for John Sikes but let's face it, there is a reason everbody in England makes fun of Coverdale.

    10. Ratt.
    Okay, I know, they're an LA band too but Warren DiMartini is a great guitar player.

    11.Dokken.
    There's something to be said about the tension between George Lynch and Don Dokken that lead to three classic hard rock albums...and yes I know, they are another LA Band.
