Hi folks, I've got a chance to buy one o' them Dan Armstrong plexiglass guitars. Now it's just too beautiful to not buy, but I hear they're really trebly, especially with the original single coils on there.

What are your opinions on these guitars? And is there anyway to save 'em from squealy treble hell?

I've played one of these, I found it had a pretty funky tone, but with the right eq setting, you can add some more balls to it.. I'd never own one though, that Plexi body scratches like a bitch!

i have had several armstrongs throughout the years. they are NOT too trebly, but they do have their own tone. That lucite is very tough, it doesnt scratch easily. lotsa players use them for open G slide stuff. they do look great dont they. are you looking at an orig or reissue?

I didnt find it trebly, just kinda funky. I will say though, the one I played was really scratched up under the lights, probibly no more so then any gutar would get after a few years in the trenches, but you cant see through those. I always wanted one because Joe Perry played one.

It's a reissue, I saw the body & neck in this funky guitar store I know, and the guy who owns it has got all the original hardware to put on there. So I asked him to string it lefty so I could have a go.

It's the Joe Perry connection that does it for me too, after seeing him using one for "Draw The Line" live, but I bet everyone is gonna think I got it 'cos Dave Grohl uses one these days...

I'm trying it out tonight in fact, I'll let you know how it is. Cheers fellas!
