I have the VH 1984 Tab/music book. The music on CD sounds like it was tuned down a 1/2 step. However, in the Tab book it lists it all at standard tuning? All the previous VH tab book all say tune 1/2 step down.

1984 is in standard tuning , I think they tuned standard on alot of the Diver Down shows if my boots are playing at correct speeds . Since were on the subject how was Ed getting such a killer tone in the old days tuning down a half step using 9 guage strings , wouldn`t his strings have been floping around all over the place?

Nobody does that as well as Ed

With a decent setup, I think Eb is actually more comfortable to play in than E is. Also, when you're tuning down this usually means higher action which creates more string vibration and in turn, the tone is thicker.

Just a side note because I know that I always seem to forget this little fact myself. Anything that has a keyboard or piano on it is in standard E. ATCWR, Jump, I'll Wait etc. are all in E.
