Rick S, check out http://www.eurotubes.com The guy that runs that site sells them. I bought mine from him and he is great to deal with. Give him a call and he'll get you exactly what you need. And yes, they make an EL84.

I've got a question for all you guys that own 5150 II heads only.
I've got some friends that have bought 5150 II heads recently, and they've been on my case to pick one up. So far I've refused to try one, but i'm starting to wear down. I'm happy with my marshall, and I used to own a regular 5150 head that I got rid of, because I thought it was harsh and buzzy sounding, especially at low volumes. Is the 5150II head different sound wise, and do any of you know if there's a big, or any kind of difference between it, and the first 5150 heads?
Also, is the middle crunch channel one that you use often? I'd appreciate any input from you guys.

I bought a 5150-II head about 3 months ago, and it was worth the money, I think it sounds great. Before the 5150-II, I was using the 5150 combo, and I personally think that the 5150-II has a better sound. I don't know how to really explain it, I guess you'll have to give one a try. As for it being buzzy at low volumes, I really don't know. I only use it for gigs and at our practice space, so the post is usually on 5. The addition of the middle crunch channel is the best feature of the amp. We play a lot of covers and that's where I use it the most. It's almost like having another amp. The one bad thing about the 5150-II are the factory tubes. I used them for about a week until I switched to JJs. It sounded good before, but now it's incredible. Hope this helps you out.

Coolez, thanks for the input. I've heard about JJ's as well but haven't had a chance to try them out because I can't find them in Canada. I don't think there's a retailer here that sells them, so I've been using Groove tubes.

Tribb hang with the marshall-this is what we talked about the other day.I played through a 5150II the other day and it was very thin sounding. It was running through a marshall 412 cab and I was playing a wolf.I was kinda disappointed. Also if you have a clean side on the marshall you will give that up to-unless you plan on keeping the marshall too.Just my opinion.

Yea, thanks Rippin. I wouldn't give up my marshall. I went through too much to get it modded, but as a second head I was wondering about getting another Marshall head done, or going with the 5150II. I might try and borrow one for a rehearsal, but I use a green back cab., and I don't know how it would sound through that.
