I've got a Jackson trem that I want to put on my Kramer just for the time being but want to fit a Floyd when I can afford it.
Should the holes for the fulcrum be the same distance apart or will I have to fill and redrill them when I get the Floyd?
I don't want to have to be redrilling the guitar if it's not worth it.

Patience is a virtue man, don't fuck around with that.

The holes for the fulcrum trem are most likely going to be wider than what you'll need for the Floyd. That's your call of course dude, but I'd say fuck it and wait until you get your Floyd. That is a fulcrum style tremolo unit you have there right, and not a Jackson licensed Floyd?

Then again, I could be wrong

A Floyd is a fulcrum tremolo...only with a knife edge on it.

Now on to the original question...I honestly don't know if the stud mounts are the same on the Jackson as they are on the Floyd. I would assume they would be close, but you know what happens when you assume something. That is, IF this Jackson is a Floyd style trem and not a stock Fender style.

I need specifics, does this jackson trem look like a floyd ?? does it say licenced by Floyd ?
the Jackson floyd style trems that I'm familiar with will interchange with floyds and visa versa,
if it's a vintage fender type trem then no it won't be the same.

6-7 yrs ago I switched the Jackson Floyd off of my custom soloist to a real floyd it fit just fine.

    Sorry...should have been more specific.
It's a licenced floyd copy by jackson and it has two hex bolts as a fulcrum.
They screw into two receiving pieces that are sunk into the body.

then that bolt pattern should be the same as the floyd, like I said I changed my Jackson for a real floyd and they were dead nuts.

Yeah, I have one of those Jackson units on my old Charvel as well. Good to know I could change it out later if I wanted to.
