How's the easy way to tune with a locking nut. I tuned, then locked the nut, and the pitch was raised but not uniformally across all the strings. So I adjusted the bridge to get the pitch. Which jacked my intonation up. So whats the easy way to do it.

Is it the low E that A string that is doing this?Generally the low E (the 6th string) will raise in pitch alittle when locking the nut. This is due to the thickness of the string(s). What I do is to tune the string just alittle lower in pitch then lock the nut.

Most likely you need a string retainer bar behind the nut about a half inch unless your headstock is angled back. The raise in pitch comes from the clamp pushing down the string which is already positioned just a hair above the nut from the tuning post instead of against the nut in the first place, hence raising the pitch. The retainer bar is lowered just below the base of the nut so it will keep the strings uniformly against the nut. Then you are locking already against the nut rather than applying more pressure to the string causing the pitch to rise. You can pick these up at a local guitar store for around $5, or order on line from below... And the installation is a 30 second job

Duder thanks for the link! I got an odd locking system. I got an Ibanez Roadstar neck. It has the regular bone nut, then behind the nut is the locking mechanism. Its not a Floyd Locking Nut. I have no idea what the make of it is. Each string slips through an individual hole and each strinh has an individual locking hex screw as opposed to the floyd rose three screws holding down the clamp. Anyone got an idea as to the make?

This is what I have on my Ibanez

If this pic dont work you can see the neck : Here
EVH: Definitely. Playing guitar was my sanctuary. It was the one place I could go to if I got fucked around by a girlfriend, or anyone else, for that matter. It still is. If thereís something I canít deal with, I can just spend hours playing. Itís a God-given gift Ė I certainly donít know where the ideas come from. Theyíre obviously given to you, and you have to keep your fingers moving and your mind quiet. I try my best to not think about thinking, so I can just let it flow. Because when I start thinking, forget it. <br />So....why he isn't playing guitar ? ? ?

yeah Van that is what I had on my Strat neck. I bought the Ibanez neck, because my Strat neck had warped. Imagine playing on 52s through 12s for years, and liking the action a little high. It does shitty things to a shitty neck. Anyway, the Ibanez neck didn't have the standard Floyd Rose locking nut on it. It has some other make. If I find a pic, I'll post it. Hell if I find a pic, I can find the fucking make.

well we can forget figuring out the make. I was retuning yesterday, tightened down the lock on my G sting and it broke. So I did the only logical thing and took the Floyd Rose R2 nut off my warped Strat neck, and fixed the whole freaking problem!
