Ok, so who here has done this?

    In a Standard?
    Special or Flame Special??

If I can get me hands on a Trans Trem, was thinking of putting it in a Wolf Standard???

Let me know what you all think...

    thank,

    kurt

Man I'd be pretty careful trying anything like that!

Ed's are of course custom, but to do it to a regular Wolf might not be the best idea, unless you know what your doing.

Again, Tribb can probably provide more detailed specifics, but I think the Wolf has a maple top and basswood body, and the amount of routing that you’d have to do to accommodate the tran-trem might structurally compromise it!

I think that it would be a pretty big job

A transtrem can only work on a floating trem system, from what I understand, so you'd have some routing to do.
That's gonna affect your tone in a big way, and the basswood body on a wolf isn't very dense to begin with. Maybe that's why Ed only uses it on certain songs.
Also the standard wolf trem is recessed, which might cause some other problems. I'm not sure if Ed's transtrem is put on specials cause the trem on those sits higher on the body. Have a good luthier check it out before you start cutting.
I'm sure it can be done by someone who knows what they're doing.
    Good luck.

No way, was I planning on doing this myself.
I know someone has had it done with good results. I think it's someone over there on the PV board.

Made a post there, so we'll see. If I remeber correctly, there wasn't much routing involved though.

I am going to try to talk to someone about it tomorrow.

Then, there is the chore of finding one anyway.

Get Up and Summer Nights are 2 of my favorites. Me Wise Magic as well. Gots to have the trem for those........

    peace,

    kurt

A Trans-Trem is like a capo on you trem-bar. The bar has the ability to transpose the tuning of the guitar up 3 steps or down 3 or 4 steps. It has a little wedge type of thing that allows you to transpose the tuning up or down, lock it and use it (the bar) like a regular one divebombs etc.
Another cool thing you can do with them is use the bar like a slide by holding a chord and moving the bar seeing as it transposes in tune!

Have a listen to Get Up, Summer Nights, Pleasure Dome, CGTSNM, and Fire In the Hole, (especially the end of FITH)

I was really wanting to get my hands on one but it never worked out.

There's another linker here that used to have a trans-trem but I forgot their handle, sorry!

I talked to the guy who does my guitars. His advice was to do it to a special only. And be really carefull. Basswood is really soft and very easy to screw up during routing, and if you screw it you can't put it back. Good luck.

Homeunit, you forgot to mention Me Wise Magic too. I would suspect that a TransTrem fitted Wolfie would be similar to the Steinbergers that came out several years ago with "regular" guitar bodies. No headstock is needed considering all of the tuning is done at the bridge.
