Saw this posted somewhere else and thought you guys might be interested.:

    Ernie Ball knockoffs..........

Well it looks like EBMM has jumped the shark. They have licensed their headstock design to a company called O.L.P. who are making pretty decent EBMM Axis (formerly the EVH model for those keeping score) copies for $199.00. They come in black sparkle and trans gold (like the one Ed played). I played one yesterday and must say that it's real cool for the price (I own a real EVH EBMM and was impressed) . They're available at Sam Ash, and while they're not the real thing, they are definitely worth checking out for $ 199.00. The bodies are basswood and necks are maple. They also make a knockoff EBMM Stingray 4 string and 5 string bass.

I was thinking about getting one for my 14 year old son for Christmas. He says he wants to learn to play guitar, but he tends to lose interest in things quickly.....so I don't wanna spend a lot of money until I'm sure he's gonna stick with it. Do you guys think this would be a good option? Or do you have any other recommendations?

Definitely don't want to be spending a ton of money on a guitar until you're sure he's gonna stick with it. $200 would be the limit for a beginning guitar, and I would suggest learning on a cheap acoustic first, then progress up to an electric, just to make sure he's into it.

I picked up one those cheap Steinbergers about 5 months ago and haven't put it down yet! I broke my Wolfie out about a week ago..............and I remembered what it was like to play a real guitar...........heavy, solid and I found it tough to play because of that "big ass" body in the way
Actually I think most of us are Dave, Sam, and Mike fans. There's just a small group of people who have strange allegiances and like to get into petty pissing contests that I can't believe everyone on this site isn't bored of. - Brett
