hey guys, i have a little peavey classic 20 15 watt amp...i read where a guy put a 12 inch black widow speaker in it as oppossed to the stock 10 inch that comes with itand it really improved the tone..i want to put a 12 inch in as well but im not sure which model or make, any suggestions? also it mentioned that installing "orange drop" capicitors as opposed to the stock ones also made for better tone...

I would recommend that you totally stay away from the Black Widow speaker. I've had two guitar amps with Black Widows in them, and while they are great for jazz, country, and blues they totally suck for rock. They just aren't voiced for heavy rock playing. If you want to stay with a Peavey loudspeaker, try the Sheffields or the Scorpions. The Sheffield is the speaker in the 5150 amp.

Celestions are great speakers as well. They are the speaker that defined the rock tone. I haven't checked prices on them lately, but I believe the Peavey speakers are a bit cheaper than the British made Celestions.

    Celestions are around $90.00 to $ 100.00 a pop.

I wouldn't get the Greenbacks because they don't have that Van Halen Marshall sound. I would get the regular Celestions.
