...has anyone here bought any of the recently released Blue Oyster Cult remasters?

I brazenly admit that I own every BOC disc up to Imaginos, but I've been too lazy to pick up any of the remasters. There are two original releases that direly needed a remastering: 'Spectres' (with "Godzilla") and the first album (with "Cities On Flame With Rock And Roll"). That first album is the worst CD dupliication effort by a record company of a back catalog album that I've ever heard. It sounds like somebody put a beat-up SM57 in front of a couple of cheap home stereo system speakers and pressed 'Play'.

The other thing I'd be interested in is whether any of the bonus tracks jump out as being particularly good.

Thanx in advance for sharing, especially in regards to the remaster of the first album.

    Dude,

I agree with you that most remasters are a $ grab, but if you haven't heard Columbia's original CD releases of those two albums, then you don't know what the f*ck I'm alluding to...

That's the funniest thing I've seen SNL do in years. I can't listen to that song anymore because all I hear is the cowbell.

On the subject of remasters I think that one example of some that have been really well done are the Miles Davis ones. For example some of the albums were slightly sped up making the notes ring "sharp". The sound was signifgantly cleaned up and the proper speed restored.
