I've heard some of his tunes, he's badass. Killing floor is one of my favs (Hendrix done a kickass version of it). Nugent plays Wang Dang Doodle on his new cd. As far as the blues go, it's all about JLH.

Howlin' Wolf did a tune called "Love Me". SRV did up the same song I think he called it "May I Have a Talk with You". It's a good one, a nice slow number.

I also like "Howlin' for My Darlin'".
"The spirit can not be contempt. The spirit can not be sour and angry" - DLR on The NEW Van Halen

"Shutthefuckupity" - DIF on John Cusack.

"Baby, where'd you sleep last night?
Your hair is all tangled
and you ain't walking right." - Robert Johnson

Our man Chester has, like, two completely distinct vocal modes in that one! He got his patented snarl on the "well that's E-VIL..." chorus parts, but something entirely full-throated and rich in the verses, mayn!

I LUVS me some "EVIL". Damn, anything he did with Dixon... how 'bout "Goin' Down Slow"?

"It's just low-down, gut-bucket blues, the old common music, pleasing to the ear. I just rhyme up a good back-rail sound. This here jingle-jangle stuff ain't no good when you got problems, and a lot of people got problems. The blues ain't never gonna change."--The mighty, mighty Howlin' Wolf

Howlin' Wolf story Ize heard at an ol' juke joint about the mighty Wolf...well wellaa

Hubert liked to talk about food more than anything else. He taught me how to make fish gumbo, and he cooked for everyone all the time. He just loved to cook and he was good at it. He didn't really talk about music much, but he had some funny stories about Wolf, including a few that I never heard anyone tell before. The way he told it was that basically Wolf was a nice guy unless you fucked with him, and then he got really dangerous. He said that when he was a boy, and just getting to know Wolf, he was hanging out with James Cotton, who played with Wolf at the time, they were both maybe 15 or 16 years old, and James said let's go see Wolf, it was a Sunday and he knew where Wolf was working. So they spent the day hanging out with Wolf while he was digging a big hole in the ground, and then a guy came along and apparently Wolf owed this guy money, so the guy started asking Wolf to pay him and when Wolf told him he didn't have the money with him the guy started swearing at Wolf and insulting him, and Wolf took the shovel he was digging with and swung it once and chopped the guy's head clean off.
When he told me that story I must have had disbelief written all over my face, and he said,"If you don't believe me just ask James Cotton, he'll tell you it's the truth because he was right there with me when Wolf cut that motherfucker's head off."
