Cool Edit Rocks! I need some help though... I have some samples below, but I want to add to it. I can figure out the layering, but what do you guys do about drums aside from getting a drummer?

Girl Gone Bad
Meanstreet Intro
Hot For Teacher
I'm the One
Eruption
Jam with the new software

I tried to mic my amp, but it was too trebly, so I wired from my amp directly to the PC, but now there seems to bee too much distortion. Thoughts or input would be appreciated

Get Acid Music.
It will lock in any drum loops you load in
in time. The only make it for PC, however,
the bastards.
Anyone know of a Mac equivalent?
Oh, and try using a direct box for
bringing your gtr directly into your
computer.

Have you checked out the cooledit sister site http://www.loopology.com ? they have all kinds of loops in there for drums. Once you add the track into cooledit pro you can set the tempo and its already looped so you can just stretch it out to any length you want.

I am not sure why you are having trouble micing your amp, I think it would sound much more natural if you did. Have you played with some of the settings on the input for that? Anyway it sounds good man, keep at it

</font>
Cool. Thanks. When I mic'd the amp, the sound was like a crappy radio shack tape recorder from the 70's. Something just isn't feeling right...

One thing you may want to check is that your mic is actually in a mic jack on your sound card. Its easy to plug into Line In or something different that puts out sound but is all messed up, and this is no disrespect, I am a network engineer and I forget shit like this all the time

Since you guys are talking about mic'ing amps....I've just begun to get into this PC recording stuff and I've been running from my Digitech RP-1 directly into my microphone jack which seems to work pretty decent. But I want to start mic'ing my amp because my sound from my amp is much better.

So, do you need to buy a mic stand or something? And how close do you put the mic to the amp, any suggestions on mics, Shure 57?

Thanks,

CF

I have a cheap ass mic that came with my first computer like 7 years ago. I either pinch it between two cd holder cases or lean it up against an upright video tape and I have to lock the cat in the room while I record or she will run around the fucking mic and mess me up while I am recording. I have a little crate 15 watt amp and that's it http://www.bundymania.com/audio/ if you want to hear some of it. Pretty sweet setup eh?

I am thinking the record volume was turned up to high for the volume I was playing at, hence all the distortion. I'll try again later this weekend and see what I can figure out. Thanks for the tips

With mine, I record it with everything set to default on CoolEdit. I have noticed that if the mic is too close that I get more of a buzz and crackle sound than anything else. One thing it will also do to me is drop the volume level of the actual mic going in if it thinks its too high.
