Steve Stevens is an awesome guitar player, and Billy Idol's first three albums would not have been half as good without him. When Stevens went solo, he put out a kick ass CD with a tight band to back him up. Ted Templeman helped with the album and it was produced by Beau Hill. What you get is a bluesish VH/Crue style rockin album.

Soul on Ice is definitely in the Classic VH-vein with the DLR-type screams & EVH-type licks!

Slipping Into Fiction is an awesome song--too bad Stevens reportedly didn't like the singer too much--hmmmmmmm......where've we heard that before?

Steve raved about Perry McCarty (the singer) in a Guitar World interview...maybe after the tour he didn't like him? i never heard anything after that...

i think Warners brought Templeman in to keep an eye on the project. Stevens says he told Warners he wanted a deal like Prince had, to be able to write and produce his own stuff. after seeing what Prince had done up till then, Warners probably pulled rank and said "here, let Ted supervise things..."

i love the whole disc. i hear there were extra tracks on the Japanese import version, i gotta dig that one up somewhere...
