I didn't really get into Cherone's work with VH, but I really liked some of the Extreme songs. Download Extreme singing the Queen song "love of my life"...........you will be amazed.

The whole Queen Medley from the Freddie Mercury concert is awesome.

Pornograffiti is a great album, and I've been meaning to pick up III Sides, because everything I've heard off of it is great.

Three sides is great but you should really check out waiting for the punchline. They went with a whole different sound, very raw and more live, it is awesome. Check it out if you get a chance. When you do, notice the irony of the song "gone tomorrow." Anyone who has heard this song will know what I'm talking about.

Are you referring to "Hip Today". I think that's what it's called. It goes;

Hip today, you'll be gone tomorrow

If that's the tune, I agree, it's a great song.

Liked Hip Today, but that's it on that album.
Didn't like the sound change, kinda like Def Leppard's Slang.Just too drastic.

Extreme did change it up on Waiting For The Punchline....but they changed it up on every record but remained Extreme. I think on that album "Cynical" is the best...the way "There Is No God?" goes into it so nice. Oh man! I am putting it on.

Is it right that Extreme only released three albums not including their greatest hits?

    Extreme released four albums:

    » Extreme
    » Pornograffiti
» III Sides to Every Story
    » Waiting for the Punchline

I see a little support for "Waiting for the Punchline!!!!!!!"

"Hip Today" is just a killer tune. Guitar on one side of the mix. Big drums. Killer solo. Gary's voice is loud and strong.

"Cynical" is also cool. Kind of reminds me a "Mean Street" a little. It's just got a groove to it.

While some of the tunes are a little long in length, it's an album that sounds as though somebody said, "OK, roll tape, let's see what happens"

I don't care for the over produced Extreme stuff, but WFTPL is the shit. It's been on my top ten since it came out.

If "VH 3" would have sounded like "Waiting for the Punchline", then right now we would be listening to a new CD from VH featuring Mr. Cherone. But then some may be glad about the apparent outcome...........

I agree with GirlGoneBad that Cynical is the best song off of Punchline!

I also love Hip Today and I think Midnight Express is incredible!

Hip Today is in my top 3 for Extreme.

The song takes on greater meaning when applying it to boy bands, "rappaz", etc.

III Sides was excellent; no question that it was a very creative musical departure for Extreme, and it is enjoyable to listen to.
