// I renamed the thread to exclude the musically praiseworthy performances...

My vote goes to Faith No More:

June 22, 1992 @ Amsterdam, Paradiso -
I just watched this video today, this show blew me away.

Vocalist Mike Patton gets into a huge fight with an audience member during a song 'Epic'. He sits on this guys chest and rams the mic down his mouth, and you can hear the guy trying to breath while Patton bounces on his ribs. And then their version of 'Why do you bother' is total fucking chaos with Patton humbing the foldback speakers and bassist Gould sitting down like in some crazed trance.

And in Toronto 1995 Patton pee'ed sort of all over the place. He was shaking his penis around while he was peeing (and singing PERFECTLY at the same time). And when the instrumental part came he started pretending to play a guitar solo on his penis. True story, I've seen this on video. (Why oh why)

Also, there's tons of funny stories how, back in the beginning of 90's fnm was an opening act for Guns 'n' Roses, and they insulted Axl almost every night on stage, and had afterwards serious "conversations" with Axl and his management...funny stuff

well....
there's an 'all-girl' band from England, called RockBitch. They're quite popular in (Continental) Europe.
Now, I'm not sure if you Americans would like to hear the details of their shows
I might explain later, since I don't have time now.

The fucking Who, man. The first band to go ape-shit on stage. Their energy was unmatched. Everyone else is just ripping them off.

Hey Damn good, that was all of my Finnish vocabulary And, no, Even though I have a Finnish first name, I'm not linked to Finland at all. I'm actually dutch, and living in Ireland.

Back to Rockbitch: I've only seen them live on TV, and they have a very messy act, including golden showers, fisting, a slave on stage with a dildo on her head, on which the singer will sit while she's singing. The best part must be when they toss 'the golden condom' in the audience. The lucky person who catches it, will be taken backstage for a BIG surprise..

Dillinger Escape Plan- they're a hardcore band out of the northeast. They're not as well known as slayer but their live show definitly sicker.

I have seen Patton with Faith No More at least half a dozen times as well as with Mr Bungle. I must admit I haven't seen him do any of his real crazy shit, but I did read one concert review that mentioned that he drank the piss of an audience member. I wish I will be home next week in Melbourne to see him play with Tomahawk.

I have seen Fishbone live and they were the most energetic band I have seen without doing over the top shit.

Maybe I misnamed this thread...the purpose was not actually to discuss the musically wild bands...

...but the ones who happen to end up to real bizarre events on stage.

Tell the stories you know!

By the way, m4rk0, do you actually know what those words really mean? they're not that polite actually...

I saw Marilyn Manson about 6 years ago in a small club. All kind of freaky shit went down. Marilyn sings this song, I forget which, where he is spit on by the people in the pit. He cut himself on stage...that was pretty freaky.

Ummmm.....what else.....The Red Hot Chilit Peppers were pretty chaotic on stage. Flea is one bad ass hyperactive bassman. Toward the end of the RHCP's set, Dave Grohl and his druumer from the FF's started fucking with the Peppers drummer! it was hillarious...they were throwing shit at each other and smoking what appeared to be good weed......

I cant really ever remember seeing anything too shocking......

1. Definitely Pantera w/ Type O Negative 1994. Type O played while Dimebag and Phil threw beer and toilet paper at them, and then returned the favor when Pantera came on. Looked like a blast backstage. The pit got so crazy during Pantera that the first two rows of seats in the theater were ripped out!

2. Ozzy cancelled a show minutes before a show was supposed to go on circa 1996. First tip-off of trouble was around 10,000 people showing up and the doors not opening. Once the announcement was made via bullhorn, a full-scale riot erupts. I had to duck multiple bottles being thrown and had to book it before the riot gear cops showed.

3. Kittie (don't laugh) at the Whisky 2000. Very vicious crowd that night for some reason. Never seen so many unconscious guys taken out in one gig before. Maybe it's just me, but I'd be pretty damn embarrassed to be knocked out while a bunch of 15-year-old girls were playing onstage...
