    Man,
I love this guy!! I downloaded a few of his songs off of Napster and then I bought "Fight for your mind", and "Burn to Shine". They are great albums, and I recommend them to anyone. They are a little slow in some spots.

I love his version of Marvin Gaye's "Sexual Healing", and I've got a great version of him guesting with Dave Matthews Band on "All Along the Watchtower".

    hey crash,

thanks man, but i must tell you one thing... back in 1998 i've been to a festival here in brasil and the two shows for the night were Ben Harper and after him Dave Mathews... man what a gig... it was a US$ 40,00 ticket that worth more than US$ 140,00...

i think they met backstage and maybe plan to work something back that days.

this was by far, the best show i've been. of course i've never been to a vh concert...

    Uncle Ted,
Yeah, all of those lucky bastards in the east (of California) got to see Ben Harper open for Dave Matthews Band. Also Ozomatli opened too. Can you believe the three of those bands on one bill. Talk about your money's worth.

I live in California, so I got to listen to Medeski, Martin and Wood open for DMB. They're a pretty cool jazz-funk combo. They don't really "rock", but they're music is pretty cool. Check 'em out if you can. Pretty funky stuff. The two DMB concerts I saw were pretty awesome though. There's only one band in my opinion that can top them...

P.S. How's the surfing in Brazil?

    Ted,
I've never been to Brazil, but it's certainly high on my places to visit list. One of my roommates in college visited Brazil, for a few months and he absolutely loved it. He couldn't stop raving about it, and he said the surf, girls and sun can't be beat. I just thought I'd ask a native, and from what you've said I'm def. gonna go. Hopefully in a few years when I get some money.

Surfings great, and trust me I know what a bitch it is to live far away from the beach. I live about (avg.) 45 miles from the beaches here in LA. but in LA Freeway miles it might as well be 100.

PS I've recently been getting into Brazilian Jazz (Samba, right?), and I was wondering if there are any musicians or composers that you could recommend if you are familiar with it. I only really know Antonio Carlos Jobim.

    man,

you took the right one to start!!! Tom Jobim kicks major ass, his lyrics are awesomw... man, he just know how to describe love and women... i was pretty sad by the time he died... great composer... Tom is from the old timers... do you want tips on the old timers or on the new ones???

ah, and Tom does not play Samba, he plays Bossa Nova... it's a bit different...

that's cool you're into brazilian music...

    Ted,
Yeah, it's a really great album. Anybody that you recommend, I'll check out. It doesn't matter if they are older or more recent. As long as they are good.

The thing I like about Samba or bossa-nova is how at first it sounds really relaxed, but the more you listen to it the more intense it gets. It's a great mixture, and it's great party music. It sends off great vibes.

PS Are you a big Dave Matthews Band fan?
