Since the Eagles "Their Greatest Hits 1971-1975" is the best selling album of all-time at the moment I was wondering how many people here actually bought or have this title in the various music formats availble like LP,Cassette,CD, Or 8-Track? I have the cd by the way. Let me know what you guys think!

I've got it on cassette. I love it, except for Witchy Woman, which I think is a terrible song. Take It To the Limit is my favorite song on that album by far.

While we're on the subject, what's the scoop with that new Eagles box set? I believe it's titled 1972-1999, but I thought they didn't do any recording between around 1980 and 1994. Or is that era represented with solo work by the band members?

I know the box set is divided into the Early Years,Ballads, The Fast Lane, And the Millenium Concert. I dont think any solo is repesented studio wise on that box set.

I think the 4th disc is from the concert they played New Years Eve 1999.

I don't own their greatest hits, but I like a song they did called James Dean.

I am a big James Dean fan.

I don't have the Eagles box yet, but my understanding from the commercials is that there is a section that consists of the band performing some of their solo hits live. This isn't too surprising since on the Eagles first live album, they included the Joe Walsh solo hits "Life's Been Good" and "All Night Long".

I've got pretty much everything on both Vinyl and CD. LOVE the Eagles.

BTW Glenn - I'm with you on "Witchy Woman" - I HATE that song. Loved "Take It To The Limit", too - always liked Randy Meisner's vocals. "Try And Love Again" is another great one that comes to mind.

One of my favorite songs EVER by the Eagles was "After The Thrill Is Gone". First Eagles song I ever heard, when I was about 8 Wolf-years old. STILL gives me chills. BRRRR.

That's a great one Wolfman! I love it too...One Of These Nights is perhaps the best album The Eagles ever did. A lot of good songs on that one and that album showed a lot of growth in the band's writing and presentation of songs.

James Dean, off of On The Border is okay... A good rocker, for sure.

I rather like the title song off of On The Border. Supposedly many of the lyrics to that song were based on some of the bullshit going on during the Nixon Watergate fiasco.

Bitter Creek off of Desperado is a great earlier song by The Eagles. Bernie Leadon sings that one...

Although overplayed, I still love the song Hotel California. GREAT lyrics and KILLER guitar work in there by Don Felder, Glenn Frey, and Joe Walsh.

My favorite song off that album however, has to be The Last Resort. That one puts a tear in my eye. Perhaps the most IMPORTANT song The Eagles EVER wrote. How the West was lost...

And Glenn I agree: Take It To The Limit, from the lp One Of These Nights, is a really great song!

(The Eagles were my favorite band BVH...(Before Van Halen )

    Oh yeah, BC -

"The Last Resort" is excellent. I also like "Pretty Maids All In A Row".

I agree about "Hotel California" - that solo is in my top 5 all time.

The Last Resort is an awesome song, as is Hotel California.

Hotel California was actually the first record that I ever bought, on LP. It had a great fold out cover and I wish I still had it, but I got rid of it years ago. The cover of that album is one of my favorites of all time, just looking at it used to take me to another place, and it still does.

    Agreed Glenn.

Hotel California is up there with the best rock covers of all time. Up there with these others (to name a few)

    The Who-----Tommy
    The Beatles-----Abbey Road
    The Beatles-----Sgt. Pepper
    Led Zeppelin----Led Zeppelin
The Rolling Stones-----It's Only Rock And Roll
Queen----A Night At The Opera/AND A Day At the Races
    Van Halen-----1984

I could go on. There are a lot of cool covers in Rock over the years.

Wolfman- I still dig out my Eagles lp's now and again. (oh who am I kidding, I have 'em all on CD too!)

I have the Greatest Hits 71-75' on CD as well as virtually every other album. Big Eagles fan and "The Last Resort" is my favorite song. I saw them back in 95' at Alpine Valley in Wisconsin. Unbelievable 3 hour show. I remember Frey stating that the regrouping was not a "reunion" but a "resumption". Let's go guys, by all means RESUME!

One of the only bands I said I would play just about anything to see live if they ever regrouped. And what happened? Hell froze over, and I just about did. Let me explain.....

I buy 2 lawn seats to see the boys at Sandstone Amphitheatre outside Kansas City, gulping hard as I shelled out $45 bucks a piece for a May show. "But it's the Eagles", I say, "It's worth it". I'm thinking beautiful spring evening, light breeze, and a virtual FM radio playlist ringing across the Kansas plains. What happens? They postpone for some reason (I forget) and move it to October. "No problem", I think, "it's the Eagles--I'll wait". After all, a gorgeous fall night, slight nip in the air, and a virtual FM radio playlist ringing across the Kansas plains. October comes, Glenn Frey eats some bad clams, gets half his colon removed, and the show is moved again to the next April. "Still worth it", I exclaim. Spring night, breeze, radio, blah blah blah....

Okay, so I've had these quickly yellowing tickets almost an entire year, but I'm still geeked about seeing the Eagles, right? Finally the day arrives. We drive 3-1/2 hours to the show, get inside....and it's about 40 degrees with a steady rain falling. I sat in sopping wet grass, craining to see a tiny stage amongst 10,000 umbrellas, removing my glasses every few seconds to wipe the rain. And you know what...?

It was an FM radio playlist ringing across the Kansas plains. And it was worth every minute of the wait, and every penny of the price.
