I love that album. Everytime I go running, I listen to that album. Awesome rock disc! Personally, I think it's their best. Revenge comes in a close 2nd. Damn, Kiss was awesome w/o the makeup, better than w. it. They actually had kick ass musicians (i.e. Bruce Kulick & Eric Carr/Eric Singer). Ace is just a washed up, Eddie VH wanna be, pock marked loser & Peter Criss can't play drums for shit. He makes Rikki Rocket look like John Bonham.

If you haven't heard Hot in the Shade, pick it up. awesome stuff!

I gotta be honest, that's one of my least favorite KISS albums... But hey, I'm glad you dig it bro....! That's cool! We all like different things and that's cool

To me, Hot In The Shade was that turning point in Kiss' non makeup career that signified they were returning to a more "hard rock" image and less the "glam boy" image of Asylum and Crazy Nights. I don't think HITS was as strong of an album as Revenge (one of my faves, too! ) but it was a better cd overall than the first few non makeup ones.

I still think to this day that "The Street Giveth..." is one of Gene's best songs EVER and I guess that's saying a lot! I think the overall production could have been "brighter" for lack of a better term. The drum sound and bass sound way too muffled for my taste.

I give HITS 7.5/10.

Aside from the singles, I haven't heard that album. Wasn't that the album that was essentially just cleaned up demos?

On a KISS site I frequent, Hot In the Shade is probably the most hated of all of their efforts (except maybe Crazy Nights or Asylum). Not that that means anything, just a sampling of the thoughts of some of the hard core KISS Army.

The worst band I ever saw in concert was 4 No Blondes, opening for Aerosmith a few years back. They were horrible!

Having been a die-hard KISS fan since 1980, I'll tell you that HITS is, in my opinion, a a good hard rock album.
Specially, I like Paul Stanley's songs from that one.
But, honestly, I prefer Crazy Nights, considering that period of KISS music.

Will I be crucified if I say that I do love "Music from the elder"...?
I think it is one their deepest records ever and very underrated.
Ciao

While not one of my favorite KISS albums, it still hits my cd player from time to time.
Most of the album is the typical KISS formula songs.

I was just glad they finally gave Eric Carr a song to sing on an album ("Little Caeser").

Yes I have heard it. It's not bad. Not great, but not bad. Some of the songs have Bruce singing on them. A lot of it reminds me of where KISS was going with the Carnival of Souls records. Also reminds me of Bruce's "Union" stuff too.

I also have his 4 song EP which he signed which is pretty cool.

I like that song too Angel... But the band's live performance was horrible when I saw them. The lead singer seemed nervous. She even said at one point that when she gets nervous she has to take a shit. Then proceeded to inform the audience, that she had just taken a shit before coming on stage. Like we all wanted to hear that!

music from the Elder is a very nice record

world without heroes
i
mr. blackwell ...

= songs that don't suck,
i prefer some of that stuff to HITS (rise to it ... i just can't listen to it more than 2 times in a row)

but, imho, their best stuff was written between 1973-1980

maybe i like that stuff so much, bcoz i was just a kid back then, but songs like "she", "shout it out loud", "g of thunder", "parasite" ...
these are just great "hard rock" songs, ok, it's not to be put in the same league as classic van halen, but still cool to listen to.

cheers,

SToRM
dave, we'd like to go upstairs, the two of us, with you ...
