I went to see King's X last night at the Newport in columbus and I have two words to impart: GOOD GOD!

That was my reaction in it's purest form. These guys are just phenominally good. Has anyone else seen them live? If not I highly recomend it. Each one of them are fanstatic musicians and I could listen to Dougs's voice and Ty's guitar for hours on end (I think they played for a little over 2 last night). In short it was the best show I've seen in a while and if it comes anywhere near you you're never going to find better music for a better price.

Yes, King's X is probably one of the most underrated bands out there. I saw them open for Satriani last year and was blown away.

Great live music.
Your favorite band sucks.

Ross,

You have a great ear AND taste! King's are EXCELLENT! I've seen them a few times and I always walk away with satisfaction. Lot's of great bands out there that should get more props then they do, King's being one of them. Govt Mule being another, I love their southern mojoness. Hope you bought a t-shirt or something to support the band!

King's X is the absolute shit...

I've had the good fortune to catch them live on seven different occaisions, opening for bands like Rush (3 times), Dream Theater & Joe Satriani and also headlining clubs three times, and you simply will not see a better live rock 'n' roll band, PERIOD. I can only say I'd hate to be with the poor bastards who have to follow them onstage!

They're tight as a crab's ass (and that's water-tight!), they're all phenomenal musicians, and they write some of the best damn songs with some of the phattest grooves you'll ever hear. In a perfect world, they'd be the biggest band on the planet.

What's really both sad and ironic at the same time is how grossly underrated, underexposed and underappreciated they are, yet anyone who experiences them live or really listens to them inevitably comes to the same conclusion... they fuckin' own!

Keep spreadin' the word...

I love King's X, but haven't actually bought a new album of theirs in a few years. I missed a chance to see them live here in Lexington a few months ago, but it was because I was on my way to Cali for the Sam and Dave tour ( ). Ty has one of the coolest tones I've ever heard, and Doug has a great, unique voice. I agree with ross that I could listen to Doug and Ty for hours on end.

Dude... RUN, don't walk to your nearest music store and buy "Manic Moonlight" before you miss out even one minute longer!

I plan to update my catalog as soon as I can, bro.

Here's a cool pic I found at the Kings X site that I think VH fans will take interest in.

Unfortunetly I couldn't afford a T-Shirt because I had to buy gas to get me back home that night. I really hope that KX tours with Tribe Of Judah. The opening band they had at the Newport wasn't bad but was very unoriginal.

Ross / Wolfman,

Okay Ross, given the choice of gas to get home or a t-shirt...I would have done gas too!

Wolf, great picture! Thanks for posting it.

i feel bad for missing them at the newport, but between the costs of tickets and babysitting, i don't get out as much as i'd like. the thing that kills me is how these guys still soldier on. they've been the official "most underrated band" for about a decade now. i almost missed a final in college to see them on the dogman tour at bogart's, and it was totally worth it. one of the five best concerts i've ever seen, including VH.

i think i am going to spring for tickets to the bosstones show at newport. i've only seen them live once, but that's another band that puts on a hell of a show. too many stage divers tho. the kings x crowds i've seen have been very passionate about the performance, but very cool to watch a show with - no elbowing and shit.

Ikeda, they will be at Bogarts again In May. I'm seriously considering that show myself - it's only an hour drive for me.

I'll be at bogarts and everywhere else they play within a 3-4 hour drive.
