Here is a scenario. Suppose these five artists are still alive today. What do you think their status in RNR would be today?

    JOHN LENNON
    JIMI HENDRIX
    JANIS JOPLIN
    FREDDIE MERCURY
    KURT COBAIN

JOHN LENNON - HUGE! He would have released tons of solo material and the Beatles would have reunited for a few tours and albums. The same thing would have happened before his death. He would have been a major activist today, a huge person in the political realm, and still in the greatest band of all time. There were plenty of new #1's in his arsenal.

JIMI HENDRIX - He would be of Carlos Santana stature. He would have been a respected player with average to below average sales, maybe one huge album with many different artists, and participated in many charity concerts. He would ate up the new modifications to EFX and guitars, but never stray from the Fender. His big star that he achieved at his early passing would not have followed him this strong had he lived. He would have been friends with Eddie. No doubt.

JANIS JOPLIN - She would have been headlining VH-1's Diva's. She would have still been popular today and a big activist for many organizations. Still a big hit. She would have popped up on sitcoms doing zany stuff. She would have lived life to the fullest like she did before her passing.

FREDDIE MERCURY - They would have followed the torch and toured the US upon the rebirth of their magic in "Wayne's World" years ago with "Bohemian Rhapsody." There certainly would be tons of new material but they might not have survived the grunge scene well.

KURT COBAIN - Nirvana would have been finsihed before 1998. Hip Hop and Rap displaced the entire Grunge scene. The band would have dropped in to obscurity, only to have Kurt surface as producer for Hole and perhaps collaborate with Courtney on a few things.

This is how I see it. Opinions? . . .

Georgie, I agree with everything you said except about Cobain. By 1998 that sorry shit would have OD'd on herion and he would not be the Rock 'n' Roll marytr that he is today.

I'm gonna make this post, and I'm sure I'm gonna get ripped for it.
With the exception of Mercury and Lennon the rest of these people's deaths are what makes these people so popular. Musically I don't think these people would have had as much of a following had they not had such untimely deaths.
