Personally, I think they would have. The one block a reunion faced was Yoko. Throughtout the 70s, the the ex-Beatles often played on eachother's albums. Ringo on George's All Things Must Pass. George on Lennon's Imagine. Ringo on some of Paul's stuff before Wings. Occassionally, they would show up on stage together i.e. Ringo showed up at a Wings concert. Plus, they all kept in touch. Even McCartney and Lennon visited occassionally in the mid 70s.

Basically, Yoko was a very controlling and manipulative force in John's life. She would design daily regiment's for him, send him on vacations (i.e. Bermuda in July 1980) so she could have an affair, etc... She had the guy's dick on a leash. By the summer of 1980, she was serious about leaving John. She was getting "bored" of the Lennon name. After finishing Double Fantasy and possibly touring, she was going to divorce him. By this point, John would be free. (Hell, in 1976 and 1979 he was contemplating a reunion) reunion.

I got this all from Lennon in America 1971-1980 by Geoffrey Guiliani. Damn good stuff. If you get the chance, pick it up.

Shit Holiday! Man we could only dream of such things. Although I'm not a Beatle head like I am with Halen, the Beatles are THE SHIT. John and Paul were THE best song writting duo ever. To speculate if they would have ever got back together is fun to think about. Oh yeah and a quick shout out to Yoko, "Way to go Yoko" "We sure do appreciate all you did for the Beatles." Out.

As I recall, Geoffrey Guiliani is not a popular figure in Beatles circles. Which people who love the Beatles have used to dis-credit anything he writes that goes against the peace and love myth.

Personally, I think where there's smoke, there's fire, and all accounts of the Beatles have to be taken into consideration. To me, the glowingly positive books are no more accurate than the negative ones, and the truth of the whole situation is somewhere in between.

Having said that, it's hard to judge facts in the Beatles world because you hear both sides of most things; John wanted to leave Yoko, Yoko wanted to leave John, they were happy together. Who do you believe?

I don't think the Beatles would have ever worked together again beyond maybe getting up and jamming at a wedding or something. ("Sorry I couldn't make it to your wedding, who was the band?" "Oh, the Beatles, maybe you've heard of them!!")

You guys remember the Saturday Nite Live thing? Wouldn't that have been cool as hell if they had just gone ahead and done it that way?

I absolutely believe they would have. And I also think there would have been a very good chance that it would have happened at Shea Stadium.

I tend to think they would have too - I think it's nearly inevitable with most bands that break up.. their careers get to a point where it becomes the only viable option.

The big question for me is WHEN would it have possibly happened? My bets would have been mid 90s.... Its sorta depended on speculating wether lennons solo work would have sold strongly had he not been shot... ie if he was selling well in work he done post 1980, the desire to reunite wouldnt have been as great than if he was starting to bomb. As it is Mc Cartney had some limited success throughout the 80s, and Harrison had some late 80s hits, I doubt it woulda been an 80s thing. By the mid 90's though the well was pretty dry. Unless you count Ringos 'Thomas the Tank Engine' gig

All theoretical of course - and Im no beatles expert either, but its fun to speculate!

While I'm not sure that we would have ever seen the return of the Beatles as a full time band, I have no doubt at all that an event such as Live Aid would have brought them together on the same stage, like it did so many other bands that day(Who/Zeppelin/Sabbath/etc.)

If I remember correctly, Lennon was looking forward to touring in the 80's once he had another album in the can (which he was recording at the time he was murdered). Once he got used to playing in front of an audience again, who knows what might have happenned.

I hope that fucking piece of shit who shot him NEVER gets out of prison

    Word!

The way I see it, if VH could reunite with Dave (fucking twice! ) then The Beatles could've "come together" at least once more.
