Anyone else have Nuno Bettencourt's solo album, "Schizophonic"? I know there was a dude here that had the moniker "Swollen Princess", named after one of the songs on the CD. I think he changed his name....you still around, bro?

Anyways, I finally found a copy and picked it up recently.

At first I wasn't sure if I liked it that much, but I think I was expecting more of a "guitar instrumental" album.

After a few listens, though, I can't get some of the songs out of my head! Very catchy.

Some of the material reminds me a little of the Foo Fighters.

I think it's worth a listen for anyone looking for some new music, since we don't have any new HALEN to listen to. (It was released in '96, I think. I guess it's not that new, actually!)

Hey Bassman. I think Swollen Princess is GGB now. I seem to recall that he said that he knows Nuno or something like that. If he doesn't answer this in several days, I'll keep pushing it to the top for ya, till Girl Gone Bad does. Out

For crissakes! I just noticed that "NunoFreak" already mentioned this topic.

What are the chances of that?

Sorry!

Hey yo! That record is great! It is Foo Fighterish but more complex chords. I love that.Swollen Princess is my favorite song on it and it is my email address. You may want to download some tunes by his new band Mourning Widows. The cds are only released in Japan though. It is very different from Schizo.

Mourning Widows, huh? Does Nuno handle the vocals or do they have a singer? I'll definitely look for some MP3's of theirs.

I was looking for "Schizophonic" for the longest time and I just happened to luck-out and find it at a used CD store so I grabbed it. (I don't shop online).

There's a link on this thread you may want to check out:

Yankee Rose, it sounds like we have similar tastes in music!

I was just listening to "Pornografitti" this morning. God, what a kick-ass CD!

If Extreme ever makes another album, I'll definitely buy it.

Bettencourt & Vai are two of my favorites, too. I don't understand the people who rip on Steve Vai. The guy is just flat-out brilliant, no question about it. Much of his solo material may take a few listens to really appreciate it. It isn't always commercial or easy to digest, but I like most of it.

Him and Ed should get together and toss some ideas around. I'll bet they'd come up with some very cool stuff! I'd love to see the two of them jamming together on stage.

(Maybe if Dave agrees to do a Sammy tune, they would let Vai jam with them on "Yankee Rose". Unlikely, I know, but it would be cool to see these guys put thier egos aside and do something like that.)

I also have that CD Bassman!

It's good but I think he is a lot better with Extreme.

Lets hope they get back together someday.

Nuno is also one of my favorite guitar players, along with Vai and of course EVH.

I bought Schizophonic when it first came out and thought it was a real good solo record. I tried to get some friends of mine to listen to it, but after the first song they didn't want to listen because it didn't sound like Extreme.....duh! Close minded people. Too bad for them.

Hey, anyone here like the last Extreme album "Waiting for the Punchline"? I have always liked that record better than the others for some reason.

Hi Bassman, actually you are the only other person on this site I think that has Eddie, Vai and Nuno as their top three guitar players besides me.

I don't understand why people don't like Vai either.
He has his own unique sound, I love his playing on the DLR albums, and Whitesnake as well as Passion And Warfare and Alien Love secrets.
My favorite solo he did is on a Whitesnake song called Wings OF The Storm.
My favorite song that he played on is of course Yankee Rose!

Pornagraphitti is one of my all time favorite albums! I hope there is a Extreme reunion soon too.

That would be great to see Vai and Van Halen together onstage playing Yankee Rose!!!
I am hoping if Dave is back in the band he will play Yankee Rose.
I figure since Sammy used to play a few of his solo songs with VH, there might be a chance we hear a Van Halenized version of Yankee Rose.
