The Beatles. Without a single doubt in my mind.

I love my Van Halen and they will always be my personal favorite, but as far as a band influencing music and popular culture, there is no one that can touch The Beatles.

At one time in March of 1964 The Beatles held the top 5 positions in the Billboard Top 100 List....I'd like to see ANY band top that.

    Rock on!

Yup, can't argue with that at all. Nobody even comes close to the Beatles in the category of being influential. They definitely touched all the bases on their way home.

There is no argument here. The Beatles are the only possible answer.

    Beatles for sure.
But if I had to pick another band, then it would be Led Zeppelin.

Laner I think it was mainly Clapton and Cream that influenced Eddie. I don't know about who influenced Sammy, Dave, Alex, or Mike.

Well Van Halen is life, but the Beatles are indeed the answer to this question.

Don't forget about the Dave Clark 5, Eddie always talks about them being a big inspiration to him.

I agree the Beatles are probably the most direct influence, but I would look back further to Bill Haley and the Comets, as they seemed to be the ones that really made rock and roll a reality.
