The scope and variation in styles of his music reminds me of Frank Zappa. To bad to hear he is wasting his talents on Guns and Roses. If anyone is interested, a good starting place is Monsters and Robots and Colma. Monsters is heavy shredding and funk with Les Claypool and Bootsy Collins and Colma is a much more melodic piece. Anyone else into his stuff?

I wasn't thrilled with Monsters and Robots. I liked about 3 tracks on it, but that was it. The guy's chops are unreal, but he plays with even less feeling than Yngwie Malmsteen. Still, he's stealing the show with Guns nowadays. Check out any video footage of the current tour, and you'll see him upstage Axl & Co. by quite a bit. He can really nail some of the old songs. I think the best I've heard him do so far has been Night Train.

Check out Colma or Electric Tears to hear his more emotional playing. Those records are all about the feel. Colma has some of the best melodic playing I've ever heard. Completely different from his wild shredding.

I came across his real name once. I'll post it here if I stumble across it again in the near future.

Don't know much about the man. What I do know is that it's only a matter of time before he's out of the band. Axl has some serious mental probs and cannot get along with anyone for very long.
