We're coming up on another Rock 'n Roll Hall of Fame induction ceremony, and a band once again the list of inductees does not include ZZ Top. Since 1970 the "Little Ol' Band From Texas" has been bringing us the blues 'n boogie with style. A lot of people may only be familiar with their Eliminator days, if so, that's a shame - go back and check out their earlier works. There's some smokin' grooves on them early discs. Billy Gibbons should definitely be at the top of most great guitarists lists. After their mid-'80s dalliance with synthesisers and such, they've returned to those roots for the most part on their most recent releases. Over 30 years together making great music - the same three guys through all kinds of changes in musical trends - why are they not in the Hall of Fame?

One of the greatest R&R bands of all time! They're working on a new album and tour, I believe!

ZZ Top is right on in my book. I've always liked stuff like Fandango and Tres Hombres more than Eliminator etc...

Billy Gibbons just plays the crap out of his guitar. I saw Extreme open for them in '91 - thought Nuno was gonna blow Gibbons away, but Billy put on one hell of a show.

I read once that ZZ Top used to have farm animals walkin around on stage in the '70's while they were playin. What do you think the cows were thinkin up on stage? Wierd stuff!

Like these cats aren't just plain cool with those beards and cool clothes. I saw them twice a couple years back when they went out with SKynyrd, and the first show in Tulsa, was straigh ahead, by the book, not hardly any improv, but still great, as these guys know how to mix in choreographed moves, and theatrics into a show as well as anyone in the game. The next show I saw was in a town called Cape Girardeau, Missouri and it was the next to last show on the tour. The Right Reverand and Co. pulled out all the stops, extended jams for the crowd that was kickin' ass all night, and some blues tune I'd never heard of, that Dusty sang. Billy played some of the coolest not on the record solos imaginable, and I would tell any music fan this in a can't miss kind of show. Go see them, as they won't be going out forever. Even on the new stuff that had drum machines on the albums, Frank Beard, played cool stuff live that held close to the mechanical vibe of the records, but felt more human as it should have. When Billy and Dusty do their synchronized dance moves while playing riffs together, it's too cool, and the conveyor belt they jam on was a new twist I'd never seen. DOn't miss these guys if they go out again!

Last month they were in the same rehearsal studio in Houston I was. New record and tour coming I believe. Hell, those guys are seen all over town drinking with the common folk. Wish Van Halen could do that.(Mike excluded-he already does)

"Jesus Just Left Chicago" is one of the greatest Blues tunes ever cut. Smokin' blues guitar work on that one!

Right on, bro! Rhythmeen and XXX (esp. Rhythmeen) saw the Rev. Willie G. and Co. return to a more bluesy sound. And, Frank started playing real drums again!

And, in defense of the stuff from the 80s--although the synthesizers and drum machines could get annoying at times, the tunes still kicked butt, and Billy's ghee-tawr playin' was still second to none.

I don't get it either. ZZ has always been a band that OTHER bands talk about how good they are.

ZZ is the type of band that no matter how fucking pissed off you are at that very momment, they will instantly make you feel better. They also make the beer taste better down in College Station. You reading this? (Inside joke to some pansy light weights that won't join the reindeer games here) Out.

My buddies tell me that the QB for Texas, I guess he was red-shirted last year and I forget his name, he's out of Houston, but anyway he is supposed to be a Stud times 10. They're really up on him. How the R-Raiders looking next year?

Makes sense, since Billy is one of the best guitarists of all time.
