Anxiously awaiting the release of the new Stone Temple Pilots album!

I read that the new single "Days of the Week" was going to be given to Sheryl Crow for her next album, but Scott told the guys he wanted a shot at it. I've only heard bits and pieces of the song and was wondering if anyone else has heard it? If so, what are your thoughts?

I downloaded it off napster over the weekend. It sounds very pop-y, catch-y, recognizable. A little happier sounding than I expected. It's good but I think I'll tire of it quickly. It's a short song (made for the radio). I hope they avoid Purple/Core tunes this time around since that is all we heard on the last 3 tours.
On a seperate note, I was driving over the bridge on Friday evening listening to Nobody's Fault But Mine. The drumming towards the end of the song....it's the same as the drumming towards the end of No Way Out by STP. I knew I recognized that drum sequence

I'm also looking forward to it. I heard the single a few days ago and I like it. Scott Weiland said that it was the only "pop" song on the album so we should expect some heavier tracks on it.

They supposedly filmed the recording process to be released as a documentary on DVD. I love it when bands give us a peek at what's going on behind the scenes.

Yeah, I wish VH would have done that. It'd be cool to see how they interact with eachother and make the album.

One can listen to the new album all weekend long at this link. So far (for me) it's very psychedelic Beatles sounding. This song I'm listening to is very mellow. It's good but not what i expected. Very summertime, kickin' it, relaxed sounding tune. Definitely will see them again when they tour the US in the fall. PS I have a few boots from previous tours if anyone wants to trade.
Boy listening to more of this...these guys really love the Beatles and Led Zep.
And a pic at the web site (of what looks to be the inside of the album) has Scott doing his best Robert Plant imitation (jeans w/ belly showing and hair starting to grow out). The pic also has a Sgt Peppers feel to it.

Not only can you listen to it, but I also was able to record it to my hard drive as well. Very cool. Of course it ain't perfect (56Kbps modem) but to be able to download and burn and listen in your car is a cool thing. And it ain't gonna persuade me NOT to buy the album. I wish all bands did this...
The album is alright, a little softer than I expected. Very beatle-stones-zeppelin-esque.

I listened to the entire album last night and I agree, a lot of the songs are softer but I like the rockers like Dumb Love, Hollywood Bitch, and Regeneration. I'm definitely going to buy it next Tuesday.

So far I really like "Coma", "Transmissions from a Lonely Room" and "Regeneration". Looking forward to playing this album at the pool-side parties this summer.

From stp web site:
Wednesday, June 20th - Live performance on Howard Stern's radio show (check local listings) followed by an appearance MTV's Total Request Live (3:30pm Eastern).
I like tracks 1,6,7,8,9,10. Especially Hello it's Late (7).

Jason, Dan
It's been a week, and I've settled into the album. I like 7 and 10 a lot. Coma, Regeneration and Dumb Love are good too. And Tall Cool Queenie is a nice little ditty about Courtney. I am not fond of 12, 5 or 6. Slow Down is good, but what was that song before they played it ? I've definitely heard it before. It's like a cross between 70's Stones and Commodores (sp?). The dreamy giutar in Hello it's late (not the solo part but the suttle stuff in the background)...I've definitely heard that somewhere as well but nothing comes to mind.
That's my one week take on the album.

I think overall this is STP's best effort since Purple. They really did a good job it, the songwriting is awesome. The second single is probably going to be Coma or Hollywood Bitch, both great songs.
