Hey folks:

The big problem with kazaa is that it installs spyware on your computer that cannot even be removed by adaware, even though adaware is a great program that everyone should use:

http://www.lavasoft.com (to get adaware which removes spyware and is free)

Kazaa Lite is a stripped down version of the files sharing utility Kazaa that has all the spyware functionality removed from it.

You can obtain Kazaa Lite here:

http://www.zeropaid.com

Regards,

http://www.zeropaid.com/kazaalite/ to be more exact but I have it and it is pretty good, I like it. But there is some stuff that hasn't been mentioned,, No bonzi buddy ot that shop option or whatever off of normal Kaaza. And Kaaza doesn't work if it doesn't have spyware so, Kaaza lite has a dummy file that will register in Ad-aware but you shouldn't delete it. But I'm not sure if they changed that rule, it has been a while since I've downloaded it.

Cool! Thanks for the direct URL - I beleive zeropaid hosts a number of these types of things and can even get you going with adaware..

These guys have always had good info on spyware:

http://www.spychecker.com/

You should get the add-on that will update your advertising file automatically for adaware. They keep doing screwed up things to get advertising on your machine!

AND ON A TOTALLY UNRELATED TOPIC I JUST DID A FRESH INSTALL OF 98LITE on a new pentium 4.

If you want a SMOKIN' FAST machine and you own both 98 and osr 2 Win 95 go here:

http://www.98lite.net (not .com that's a porn site).

Thanks for the info on that stuff, I found over 100 files of spyware when I first ran adaware a few months ago. And now for some reason almost every time I run it I find two files, one from the Kaaza lite thing and another one in my cookies. I don't know what site I go to get it but It is almost always there.
On another note, I can't remember the site but I remember reading somwhere that when you download stuff from things like Kaaza or Kaaza lite, Audio galaxy, it downloads it twice(and hides one) so when you delete somthing people can still download it from your computer, and that takes up alot of space, I'm pretty sure this happens because I have deleted most of my songs to try to free up some space and I dont' have NEAR as much as I used to. It would also explain why they are somtimes slower than you would expect. ANYWAY there is suppost to some freeware that will delete it I'll see if I can find it off of that web site www.zeropaid.com

Audiogalaxy is fucking evil with the spyware. They have a great tune selection though...

I don't know about kazaa doing double copies of files. You sure you just don't have a bunch of half downloaded songs?

I probably do have a bunch of Half downloaded songs and videos, when you cancel in the middle of downloading what does it do? I thought it went ahead and deleted what you had, is that not the case?

No, go to your shared folder and make sure you have your file viewer set to show you all the files. They are probably in there...

I don't think you can also delete them from within Kazaa. Kazaa does this so you can start your download at a later date with what you already have downloaded sitting in the shared folder...so you probably have a few megs of whatever sitting in there (grin).

I don't know how much computer experience you have but you know that you need to defragment your hard drive once in a while, right? Especially if you're downloading and deleting files all the time.

click tools, folder options, view and finally tell it to show all hidden files. You should see a bunch of funky looking big files that won't execute - they would be what you want to delete as long as you're sure you don't want them.

You've run a virus scan probably, update your scanner if you haven't in a while.

You know i actually did that before I asked, it took you telling me that they were big files that couldn't opened before I saw them. I worry about my self sometimes.

Yeah, I share a house with a couple of other people and until just recently we all used the same computer. They seemed to (heh) enjoy sites that would effect our computer tremendously, it being a Pentium 133 with 32 megabytes of space

The first time I ran adaware I got rid of over 120 items or so..the machine started booting and shutting down faster..it was unbelievable!

I ran that program on my work computer, which I don't really do anything but browse the net and use local office programs, and still pulled up over 100 files classified as associated with spy or adware. It's amazing how website cookies can fall under that as well. They're collecting information about us without us even knowing it.
