When you ask me who this band is I can reply in many ways. The band first performed for one show(someone paid $2000 for a ticket off of ebay) and played publically one time before deciding to put a record out. A year has past since that show and now a record is on the shelf called the Grand Pecking Order. They are the newest supergroup and are comprised of genuine musicians. The three member group consisting of the grande Trey Anastasio(Phish Guitarist),Stewart Copeland (Drummer that you might remember from The Police), and one very great bassist by the name of Les Claypool(Primus). The album was released on the 2nd of October and if you can spare $15 you will have bought, IMO, the best album of 2001. The album consists of 13 tracks that are not main stream rock but definitely can be appreciated by those of us who love great music.

I could not agree more. This is the most astonishing musicianship to come along in a while. The only thing is you have to be able to handle Les' voice. His lyrics are great, but his voice can be grating. The up-side, Stewart Copeland sounds like he's never missed a day of rehersal since the Police. IMHO the best drummer walking the planet.

Thanks for the update on the album, I'll buy it tonight!

So paradiddle what do you think of the album? Do you have the live show? If not I know where you can download it. Grand Pecking Order is a great album. I think it has various similarities to some great bands. Some songs, IMO, sound alot like Beatles songs. Other songs sound alot like the talking heads. And I think there is a Pink Floyd feel in the cover art and in some of the vibe songs have.

Well I Kazaaed a bunch of tunes and I dig the hell outta of it! I still have to buy the album, but the tunes I have are live, perhaps recorded in New Orleans?

So far I've found myself focusing on Stewart, and he sounds great. I really like the jam feel that Trey adds to the super fat rhythmic feel of Les and Stew. Les' lyrics are great, but I still can't get over Stewart. I'm just so glad to have him behind a kit again, slaping that signature snare pop!

I actually downloaded the whole album on kazaa and wrote it to CD. This was a full week before it's release but the day it came out I had it (just like any other band I love.) The sound quality was so much better on the official that it changes the whole album(IMO.) I truly think it is one of the best albums in the last few years that has been released ( not that I think it has much competition either.)
