Did you guys ever lisen to some punk bands ?
EVH: Definitely. Playing guitar was my sanctuary. It was the one place I could go to if I got fucked around by a girlfriend, or anyone else, for that matter. It still is. If thereís something I canít deal with, I can just spend hours playing. Itís a God-given gift Ė I certainly donít know where the ideas come from. Theyíre obviously given to you, and you have to keep your fingers moving and your mind quiet. I try my best to not think about thinking, so I can just let it flow. Because when I start thinking, forget it. <br />So....why he isn't playing guitar ? ? ?

Before I saw the light and started listening to older-style rock, I thought Blink182 was a good band.

Welcome back from the Dark Side.

I can't stand a lot of punk...some Ramones work is good, but punk in general totally turns me off, particularly all the Blink clones out there.

My roommate in college had quite a bit of punk music and I got exposed to it and made some tapes. I liked groups like the Dead Kennedys and Black Flag and the Pistols of course - didn't always agree with what they were singing about, but I liked the raw energy of the whole thing and he took me to a DK show a few years later and it was a different but awesome scene!

Wow! I love punk and listen to it all the time.

I'm talkin about bands like:

Rancid
Pennywise
Bouncing Souls
NOFX
Face to Face
Deviates
H2O

Theres a tonne of amazing music out there thats not played on the radio. No offence, Good Charlette stinks - plain and simple.

I'm in a punk band and love it. People think that punk bands can't play and thats wrong. Listen to the drums. The bass rules and the singer doesn't scream like a girl. And the guitarists amazing.

Punk rules!

I always thought Van Halen had a punk vibe until the 1984 album.

What is punk really? Is it some dude singin nihilistic lyrics with an English Accent? Is it some stoners playin lookin at their shoes?

To me punk is just rock on steroids. Very energetic and fast. So by that definition Van Halen had a shitload of punky type songs.

Can we put Iron Maiden in Punk ?

Well punk purists (how funny is that) would say Iron Maiden is the furthest thing from punk. But I know what you're driving at. They have punky elements for sure.

Iron Maiden would also fall under Opera sometimes too

I never was into '70s/early '80s punk. I admit that I liked a few '90s albums by Green Day and Bad Religion.

Do you guys like old bands like : The Clash or The Sex Pistol , Black Flag etc...
I'm not crazy for those bands... Black Flag are cool but The Clash and TSP ...nah
But the only thing that I hate about punk bands is that their song are like just on sometime 6 or 7 powerchord ... somtime they can play a song with 4 and they play it really fast...

But I still listen to punk-rock

The Sex Pistols' Never Mind The Bollocks is close to being the perfect stripped down, laid bare, hard as nails rock album. I'd group it with Van Halen I, the first Montrose album, AC/DC's Back in Black, The Cult's Electric. You know, big guitar, big drums, raw vocals and great big balls. If you've never heard NMTB, then do yourself a favour and check it out.

Here is my Oppinion on Punk, and it will probaly offend alot of people, but thats rock n' roll for ya, anyways i think it blows, who wants to listen to a bunch of half-way through puberty, mad at my parents cuz i have to take out the garbage and pissed at the government cuz i cant drink till im 21, crap. not me its like Angus Youngs Quote from the BonFire box set, they asked him if he felt any Pity for punk bands and he Quoted "none, what so ever." punk isn't talented either, has anyone ever tried to play "all the small things" or "anarchy in the U.K" yeah talk talent , lets see Good Charlotte can do Maiden's ,Back in the Village , or hot for teacher By VH..............
