i was listening to it today, and i love it!
yeah, the lyrics suck, but eddie is on fire and i love the music.
as well, everyone says that OU812 had the bad production, and mikey's missing and stuff, but SOF is the one tune on the album where i can hear mikey play, and he rips too.
man, i'm glad i popped that one back in the player tonight, it's been a while since i've listened to it.

Agreed. I don't really care that much about the lyrics on any of the songs. If the music sounds good, I like it. Good lyrics don't hurt though.

I agree, SOF totally smokes! The certainly were on there game that day. I really don't mind the lyrics. I think Dave probably would have done something along the lines of 'Loss of Control'.

I don't think the lyrics are all that bad... from the proper perspective, that is. It's not supposed to make any sense

If you don't care for the lyrics, you would have loved hearing it live in May, 1988 at Alpine Valley, WI during the opening gig of the Monsters of Rock tour. Sammy's mike kept cutting out, so it was pretty much an instrumental.

BTW--that was the first and last time I ever heard SOI done live.

that song would be cool as an instrumental.
i brought it up because i hear many people slam the song, but i think that it's only the lyrics that people are slamming.

and as a dave head, i can't stand loss of control. same deal, bad lyrics, smokin music.

SOI's instrumental portion kicks major, major ass.

Just think what it would have sounded like with cleaner production and a better mix!

Always liked Source of Infection, even though it makes no sense. It totally rocks. I think I'll listen to OU812 on the way home tonight. "TAKE ONE!"

Musically, the song does kick some rumpus. That's what bugs me about the lyrics. I think the song could have been great if only Sam had put some effort into it. Definitely would have been neat to hear an instrumental version.

Loss Of Control is a pretty good comparison to Source Of Infection, but it obviously had better lyrics. Not much better, mind you, but better nonetheless.

(Oh yeah, had to edit this in... The opening solo fucking smokes! I know, what a revelation.)

Agreed. Probably my least favorite VH song lyrically speaking, but as far as music, my God, the fucker smokes!!!!!!!!

I've often thought, this is a tune that would rise in level of greatness for me, if I did not speak or understand the English language. That way I wouldn't hear those awful lyrics and just enjoy the music!

I like Source Of Infection. The intro with Eddie talking to Sammy with his guitar reminds me of the intro to Yankee Rose with Steve Vai and DLR.

Alex's playing on that song is awesome, his double bass sounds great!
I don't think it has bad lyrics, but it does have a lack of lyrics, you can tell that Sammy spent a lot more time on the lyrics of a song like Mine All Mine.
Right Now you're reading my post!
