Don't have any of these locked down as THE 3 for each decade, but the following definitely land in my Top 10 and probably my Top 5 (as personal FAVES, not what I think are the BEST):

    60s

    - Abbey Road (BEATLES)
    - Revolver (BEATLES)
    - Led Zeppelin (LED ZEPPELIN)

70s (super tough putting a finger on three...)

    - Highway To Hell (AC/DC)
    - 2112 (RUSH)
    - Van Halen (VAN HALEN)

    80s

    - MCMLXXXIV (VAN HALEN)
    - Don't Say No (BILLY SQUIER)
    - Big Generator (YES)

    90s

    - Dirt (ALICE IN CHAINS)
    - Coverdale/Page (COVERDALE/PAGE)
    - DLR Band (DLR)

    2000s...nothing yet...

I love all eras of U2 but I do tend to favour the latter years. Joshua Tree is one of my favourite albums ever, and Achtung Baby isn't too far behind. But regardless, Boy, October and War are '80s albums, so they wouldn't have beaten my '90s picks of Achtung Baby or POP regardless! I also agree early U2 live rocks! I have a lot of different cuts on the singles and of course Under A Blood Red Sky - I wish they'd do a full-length version of the Red Rocks concert - that would rule. I also think POP is vastly underappreciated (maybe how some people have come to feel about Van Halen 3?). Don't think they needed to mess with those songs on the new Best of.

This is impossible and could easily change in five minutes, but here it goes:

    1960's-
    1)The Beatles- Abbey Road
    2)Led Zeppelin- Self Titled
    3)The Who- Tommy

    1970's
    1)Van Halen- Self Titled
2)Saturday Night Fever- Original Motion Picture
    Sountrack
3)The Rolling Stones- Exile On Main Street

    1980's
    1)Van Halen- Fair Warning
2)Guns N' Roses- Appetite For Destruction
3)Van Halen- Women And Children First

    1990's
1)Red Hot Chili Peppers- Blood Sugar Sex Magic
    2)U2- Achtung Baby
3)Janes Addiction- Ritual de lo Habitual

    2000's
    1)The Corrs- In Blue

How's that for diversity without being too Van Halen biased?
