Any of you heard the new Ozzy song "Gets Me Through" yet? I heard it last night, and I thought it kicked ass! Cool little mellow piano intro, and then of course all hell breaks loose... I can't wait for his new CD to come out At least one of my favorite artists is still recording (and touring)...

Ozzy.com says the new cd "Down To Earth" will be released on 10-16-01.

Atomic Punk DLR - I believe the guitarist to be Zakk Wylde, who is also slated to be the touring guitarist.

Apparently, he is working with Black Sabbath as well; on a new studio cd due out early next year... Plus a mini tour with Rob Zombie at Christmas! Pretty busy for an old guy

Just heard it for the first time. It's not particularily distinctive, and it's too long. Ozzy is cool, but the song is pretty run of the mill in my opinion.

I haven't heard it yet. I imagine that Zakk Wylde is still the guitar player. Does it sound like Perry Mason at all?

I will probably buy his new album when it is released.

I like Ozzy solo ten times better than Sabbath!!!

I agree...it's a very average song, nowhere near as interesting as the new song Sabbath were playing on tour. Ozzy solo completely sucks compared to Sabbath (hi Yankee ) ......the autobiographical "I don't know", "I don't wanna change the world" etc etc style lyrics are very and uninspired.

The tour with Rob Zombie and possibly Slayer sounds like it will be cool.....but after that bring on Sabbath

I love the Oz man but I think the song is ok not great. it seems like another song he wrote. it just did'nt grab me. I will still be buying the new Ozzy album the day it comes out in October. I'll be on Vacation in Vegas that week so I have something to listen to on the flight home.

    Are ya crazy, man?!

I mean... Ozzy for sure has had some killer tunes during his solo career... but Sabbath most definitely kix ass!

Just think of stuff like Paranoid, War Pigs or Sabbath Bloody Sabbath!

Anyway... as for the new Sabbath album, recording sessions are scheduled to start sometime in January 2002, with Rick Rubin sitting in the production chair.
I personally think that's great, tho I'm a little worried about Rubin being chosen as producer... hope he doesn't screw it up.

Well, even Ozzy's worst efforts are better than 90% of the bullshit that is being released nowadays...

Jonathan - are you saying that "I Don't Know" is a cheesy song? If so, I can't say I agree with that - his solo work with RR stands the test of time... and holds up very well against the best of Black Sabbath IMO. That is no dig on Sabbath - I love them both!

I like Black Sabbath a lot more than Ozzy solo. There are so many great Sabbath songs that they did with Ozzy.

Anyway, I just heard the new song. I agree, it's OK, but not great. I'm still going to buy the new album when it comes out, though. Finally someone's going to give the music world a much needed kick in the ass.

No not at all, the two albums with RR are classics from start to finish. Ozzy has just revisited the same theme so many times that it's almost parody.......the "I'm just a normal guy, not anything like my image" thing. With "I don't know" the timing was right and it made sense - but in 2001 with Ozzy pushing 50 and more like your favourite uncle than a pscyho biting the heads off of small animals, it sounds silly to me.

Incidentally, it looks like the warm-up bands on the Ozzy/Zombie tour are Cradle of Filth and Sysyem of a Down (according to Zakk) and the tour starts on Oct 28th.
