JUDAS PRIEST's TRAVIS: 'We Hope ROB HALFORD Rejoins The Band' - Jan. 23, 2003

JUDAS PRIEST drummer Scott Travis has publicly admitted that the group's Ripper Owens era is, for all intents and purposes, over. "We hope [former singer] Rob [Halford] rejoins the band so we can go out this summer, but part of the ball's in his court, so he's going to have to make a decision," he told Brave Words & Bloody Knuckles. It remains unclear if a reunited PRIEST would go it alone or pair up with another act, such as TWISTED SISTER or Sanctuary Artist Management stable-mates IRON MAIDEN.

Wow! This would be huge. I like Ripper and think he's done a really good job, but there's just something missing from JP now. I saw them live last summer and while it was solid, it just didn't seem like a Judas Priest show that much. Really they should have done only the new stuff (although the classic material was great). Again, Ripper Owens is really good, but damn, getting Halford back would be awesome. The boost to the songwriting would be the best part of it. Notice that Ripper doesn't write anything. Judas Priest these days just seems like Glenn Tipton's band.

I saw Halford on the Iron Maiden/Queensryche tour and he was as good as he's been.

    So Ripper's out too huh?

Whats up with those Priest singers? Oh, thats right, they have "Priest" in their band name.

I haven't paid much attention to Priest much since the later 80's, but Rob's return would peak my interest a bit once again.

I saw Halford back in 2000 and his 40 minute set opening for QueensRyche & Iron Maiden was much better than the Priest concert I saw in 2002.

Halford played a gig here on New Year's Eve at Cane's, where the Atomic Punks usually play whenever they're in town.

As a matter of fact, the last time The Punks were here, 12/13/2002, they did "You Got Another Thing Comin'" and it absolutely rocked. Ralph really pushed his vocals on that tune and he kicked its ass.
"Think of how stupid the average person is, and realize half of them are stupider than that."

"This is a lttle prayer dedicated to the separation of church and state. I guess if they are going to force those kids to pray in schools they might as well have a nice prayer like this: Our Father who art in heaven, and to the republic for which it stands, thy kingdom come, one nation indivisible as in heaven, give us this day as we forgive those who so proudly we hail. Crown thy good into temptation but deliver us from the twilight's last gleaming. Amen and Awomen. ."

"I think it's the duty of the comedian to find out where the line is drawn and cross it deliberately."

    -George Carlin 1937 - 2008
