Headbangers ball was a show that showed rock videos and they had guest bands they would interview. I believe it was cancelled in the mid-nineties.
Right Now you're reading my post!

It was Heavy Metal stuff; Anthrax, Megadeth, Judas Priest etc. It was cancelled when grunge got big.

let me speak on this topic to mean street and all the other beautiful youngsters out there. Mtv headbanger ball was a vehicle to showcase hard rock/ heavy metal videos and how drunk our idols could get! sometimes the show had an order, other times the host, who was so good that the only job he could get was with world class wrestling, would allow the bands to run rough shot and destroy stuff. The shows main downfall was the evil music television station itself. Mtv advertised that it wa a rock music station. they started out playing pop and rock tunes all the time but eventually turned on us. they stopped playing van halen and replaced it with a new form of music called gangsta rap. The headbanger ball show felll victim to this as the station decided to give all of us van halen fans a big middle finger by not playing van halen or any other true rock music anymore. once in a while mtv will still trick you and play a rock song but beware, becasue the mood is aobut to change quickly. what i mean by that is they may play andrew w.k. or ozzy but then there will be a song that degrages women by calling them bitches and by glorifying the murder and other evils towards them. but that is mtv for all of you out there. overall headbanger ball had its good points and bad points but itwas just another victim to the sweeping change that took van halen and other groups out of the number one slot in our music. even today if you put Mtv on during most of there shows, there is evil going on. rock music was all aobut partying and guys drooling over how hot some intellignet women was, but now the music is about killing, racism, muder, theft and others sins against humanity.

"I WANT MY MTV" - almost any rock star who got fooled into trusting Mtv

I was a big fan of the show in the late '80's. I would come home from work on a Saturday night and immediately throw on MTV. Long live the Ball!

Mtv killed a genre with that friggen YO shit & grunge. Grunge was a JOKE! Grunge quickly became more about fashon then music! It all came to a head when I cought my FATHER wearing a flannel shirt, & my Mom goes " it's Grungy, doesent he look Grungy"? Yeah ma, real fuckin' cool.. ya.. Listen, I'm approaching the end of my 30's, If I enter my 50's trying to dress like i'm in my 20's, please shoot me?... Please? Ford, I know you wanna.
