Peter Gabriel will return to the U.S. this summer for another leg of his Growing Up tour. A tentative routing posted on the artist's official Web site kicks off June 7 in Mountain View, Calif., and runs through July 2 just outside Indianapolis. As it was for the 2002 shows, the site says a pre-sale option will be available for the new dates.

"The tour will be taking a different form to last year's [shows]," the site continues. "Those who saw that show will understand why it was simply not possible to take it everywhere we wanted to -- it required a huge amount of headroom to suspend something like 30 tons of equipment from the ceiling. The new tour will fit in more venues so, finally it looks like all those in Atlanta who have petitioned for a performance will be rewarded."

As previously reported, Gabriel will hit Europe later this spring, beginning April 24 in Stockholm. All the activity comes in support of his latest Geffen/Interscope album, "Up," which debuted in October at No. 9 on The Billboard 200 and has sold 309,000 copies in the U.S., according to Nielsen SoundScan.

Meanwhile, next Tuesday (March 11) will bring the DVD debut of the 1994 home video "Secret World Live," chronicling Gabriel's 1993 tour of the same name. The release has been augmented with an unnamed bonus track, a "Quiet" remix of the track "Steam" that accompanies a photo montage, new interviews and behind-the-scenes footage, and a time-lapse film of the mammoth stage being assembled in Berlin.

Here are Peter Gabriel's tentative U.S. tour dates:

June 7: Mountain View, Calif. (Shoreline Amphitheatre)
June 8: Los Angeles (Verizon Wireless Amphitheatre)
June 11: Dallas (Smirnoff Music Center)
    June 12: Houston (Woodlands)
June 14: West Palm Beach, Fla. (Coral Sky Amphitheatre)
    June 16: Atlanta (Chastain Park)
    June 18: Boston (Tweeter Center)
June 20: Holmdel, N.J. (PNC Bank Arts Center)
June 21: Camden, N.J. (Tweeter Center)
June 22: Bristow, Va. (Nissan Pavilion)
June 24: Wantagh, N.Y. (Jones Beach)
June 26: Milwaukee (Marcus Amphitheatre / Summerfest)
June 28: Tinley Park, Ill. (Tweeter Center)
June 29: Clarkston, Mich. (DTE Energy Music Center)
July 1: Columbus, Ohio (Germain Amphitheatre)
July 2: Noblesville, Ind. (Verizon Wireless Amphitheatre)

I like Gabriel but the show I saw on the first leg really sucked. I don't think I'll be going a second time.

yeah, this was one the reasons the show sucked. The drumming was way to thin and was drowned out by all the pre-recorded stuff.

That sounds like a sound system problem.

Is Manu Katche (spelling?) still with Peter?

not this last tour. Manu played with all the prerecorded stuff on the Secret World tour and it sounded freaking incredible. This dude who was on the last leg.............well, he sucked ass.

I'm not really a big Gabriel fan but this thread interested me becuase I can't figure out why they put him in arena's and really big halls again. I'm not really criticizing his music, it's just interesting since his tour a few months back only averaged a little over 8,000 people a night (POLLSTAR). That's a lot of people but in most cities they were putting him in arenas or open air amphitheatres that held 15,000 to 20,000. I just wonder how they could have possibly made good money. I'm surprised their putting him in huge places again for many of the dates. I don't know, the business side of things always interested me and this will be interesting to see how he does. I'm sure tix are very expensive so maybe that's the answer.
