I thought I heard that KISS is retiring as the makeup group, but Gene and Paul are going to continue to make music as KISS without Peter and Ace.

I hope you're right Glenn. Kiss did some good stuff w. Bruce Kulick and Eric Singer in the 80s and early 90s. Maybe they can recapture that.

Thank god that sell out nostalgia tour is almost over. Now that those two are back on their feet finanically, maybe they'll get creative again. Or, maybe they'll just sit on their asses and get lazy and put out shitty music like Psycho Circus. Who knows?

glen, youre probably right, that article was the first i heard of it at all,and it wasnt very specific,it mostly was about the lack of media the retirement was getting.

    Nope.

There will be no more incarnations of KISS. Gene has said this many times. He said he doesn't want them to just strum their guitars on stage in thier 50s.

If the Farewell Tour states "1973-2000", than that's what it really means. Not many would really care for a non-original, non-makeup KISS again anyway.

I think its a good thing they're going out on top. Who wants to see them like the Stones?

Don't forget, they (Kiss w/Bruce and Eric) had a album ready for release when this reunion thing came about. Bruce is still touring with the Kiss conventions. I don't think he would be sticking around if something wasn't going to happen.

"That album of KISS w/Bruce and Eric" has already been released. It was released in the fall of 1997 ("Carnival of Souls").

Though, expect a huge KISS Box-set sometime soon.

    VV,

what did you think of COS? I thought it was an obvious DARK album, but musically, I never got into much of it. "Jungle" and "Master & Slave" were awesome, as was the Kulick song "I Stand Alone". Not sure about the rest of it. I'd like to see them come back with Kulick and Singer, maybe not indefinitely, but another album would be kinda cool. Yeah, it would take away from the whole "retirement" tour, but I'm still not convinced that KISS will never perform again. Time will tell...

I'd put my nickel (if I had one) on KISS putting out more original music.

A box set soon? I bet they don't stop at just one. Knowing how the band operates greed wise, there will be several box sets in the future.

The farewell tour is now returning to cities they have already played in. Do you think they will really stop in the year 2000? If ticket interest is still high, I could see them continuing into next year.

Don't count on anything Gene says. They have gone back on their word time and time again. Look at their merchandising situation. They said years ago that it was a mistake over-selling themselves and that it would never happen again. Well, it happened again. So will more music and possibly tours without the makeup and Peter and Ace.

This really doesn't have to do with KISS...
but they are touring with Nugent right now...
and if they come to your town Ted's probably going to be at the local bookstore promoting his book/signing autographs.......

Carnival of Souls was an interesting album. There are some good songs on there, but it is just TOO dark, especially for a KISS album.

Yes, I realize that Gene has gone back on his word many times in the past, but as a long-time, die-hard KISS fan, I really believe that this is it for them.

I went to go see the Fairwell Tour show when they came to my town back in July. Great show. During the song "Do You Love Me", the video screen showed images of KISS from 1973-to the present, everything, non-makeup stuff too. When I saw that, I really thought that KISS are serious about hanging the platforms up. The tour book is more evidence of this. A glossy (and very expensive piece), the tour book showcases the band through the years and lists EVERY show they played from 1973 to January 2000.Then it has quotes from each member of the band saying their thanks to the fans.

I myself wouldn't want KISS to go, but like Micheal Jordon or Wayne Gretzky, it is better to see them go out before it becomes embarassing. So, KISS are not like other bands. They've always went out on stage as superheroes and if they begin to fall short of that because of age and years of touring, then it's time to go.
