GUNS N' ROSES: "Chinese Democracy" Scheduled For September Release - June 24, 2002

The current incarnation of GUNS N' ROSES—led by sole remaining original member Axl Rose—have reportedly set September 2nd as the release date for their perennially-delayed Chinese Democracy CD—nearly three years after the original release date, according to Undercover.

Rose is said to have recorded over 70 songs for this record with various producers. In February, he fired producer Roy Thomas Baker who had been brought in to replace Sean Beaven.

It is unsure who will have credits on this version of the record, if it actually comes out. Rose recently commented on the record saying "we're in the studio doing this album and I can promise you that we're gonna deliver and it's gonna be out of the ballpark. We've been working on this album and I can tell you we're doing our best and that's all I can promise".

The GUNS 'N' ROSES line-up for the record is Axl Rose (vocals), Robin Finck (guitar), Buckethead (guitar), Chris Pittman (keyboards), Tommy Stinson (bass), Dizzy Reed (keyboards) and Brain (drums).

The band performed in Las Vegas last December and debuted a number of songs expected to be on the album. Among them were: "Oh My God", "Madagascar", "Chinese Democracy", "The Blues" and "Silk Worms".

To date, the only song that has been officially released is "Oh My God" which featured on the 1999 movie soundtrack to End of Days.

NEWS - Guns N' Roses Album Release Rumor Untrue
    06/25/2002

(6/25/02, 7 a.m. ET) -- Guns N' Roses' record company and management has told LAUNCH that rumors that the band's forthcoming album, Chinese Democracy, was to be released Labor Day weekend are untrue. A spokesperson for Interscope/Geffen spoke to the band's management, who replied to the unsubstantiated rumor, "Where are they getting this from?"

The report of the Labor Day release surfaced as part of the Drudge Report on Monday (June 24). Guns N' Roses' last studio album was a covers album, The Spaghetti Incident?, which was released in 1993. The last original song that hit radio was "Oh My God," which appeared on the soundtrack to the movie End Of Days in 1999.

HA! Yea, you thought Van Halen was bad with their silence!!

I've been following this 'new album' soap opera very closely since '98, and it hasn't been fun. The band had a message board for a while on their site, and all I've got to say is, it wasn't pretty! I've heard some live mp3's of the new songs they played in Rio, and they were pretty good!

I'll believe that they'll ever release that album when I actually see the thing collecting dust on the shelves.

Mr. Bailey was a talentless hack in the 80's and he remains one to this day...

    "Chinese Democracy?"

Not the least bit interested in a new Guns N Roses album unless Slash is on it!
