2001 was actually a pretty good year for music IMO. Here are my choices in order:

Tool: Lateralus
Creed: Weathered
Sevendust: Animosity
Ozzy Osbourne: Down To Earth
Stone Temple Pilots: Shangri-La Dee Da
Slayer: God Hates Us All
Megadeth: The World Needs A Hero

Damn... I can't remember everything that came out this year...

I have to drop a mention for some CDs though that were pretty damn good.

Weathered (Creed) is really solid, been at #1 for three weeks, and it won't go away for a while yet.

Break the Cycle (Staind) was a hell of a lot better than I ever expected out of them. Massive improvement over their first.

Camino Palmero (The Calling) was one of those I grabbed while it was still $7 and wasn't disappointed. It's good to see Wherever You Will Go is starting to get some airplay.

Arrival (Journey) rocked, but it is DEFINITELY not for everyone (those who hate Journey or are narrow minded like FORD is with Van Halen and refuse to accept Journey without Perry need not apply).

Maybe if I was at home and could look through my CDs I could give a better report, but those are the ones off the top of my head.

Yeah, but it's played well into this year, so it still gets my vote!

I think that overall it was a poor year for rock music. The only albums that came out this year that I really liked are....

Journey: Arrival

The Cult: Beyond Good And Evil

Mr. Big: Actual Size

Wait, did Sammy's Ten13 come out in 2001? If so, that would be my pick, it's a cool album.

Most of my purchases have been old stuff; Rush, Alice Cooper, things I missed mostly because of my age.

I was going to ask if Iron Maiden's Brave New World came out in 2001, but I checked Amazon.com and it showed May of 2000 as the release date for that. I think I've lost a year somewhere (maybe I should join Van Halen ).
