I have a tie. KISS "Alive Tour" December 1975, Mobile, Ala. in the Mobile Expo Hall. 15 years old and my first concert ever. What an initiation! KISS weren't mega-stars yet. In fact, the Expo Hall was nothing more than a basketball gymnasium complete with retractable bleachers. The hall is located right next to the Mobile Municipal Auditorium that seats around 12,000. KISS wasn't big enough to sell out or even play the bigger venue yet. But so what. They were on their way up and had a hell of a lot to prove. And prove they did. My tie was KISS, once again, "The Fairwell Tour" in Pensacola, Fla. I had great seats (10th row, Gene's side) and was able to be 15 years old all over again. Ted Nugent opened the show and smoked as well. I was right back in 1975. KISS this time, as we all know, are huge and the band and I had come full circle. It was a very memorable evening. I had a chance to see Van Halen open for Black Sabbath but passed it up. 1978 - 1979 and I kick myself everyday for not going. I do have the bootleg video of Van Halen with David Lee Roth in Oakland, Ca. on the Diver Down / Fair Warning tour. Hardly a consolation. BTW, I had a terrific buzz on for both of the KISS shows. Hell, for most of the concerts I've been to. It was part of the gig. Get stoned and watch your heros rock out in person. Now you can't even smoke a cigarette if you want to. "Where have all the good times gone?" What was the best concert you've ever been to?

I've been to too many concerts over the years to pick one favorite, but some of the best ones were the Stones - Voodoo Lounge tour (4th row, right in front of Keith), Queensryche - Empire tour (when they played all of Mindcrime), Def Leppard - Hysteria tour (1st row and backstage passes), SRV twice, Texxas Jam 3 times, Rush - Vapor Trails tour (best full on rock concert I've been to in a long time), Motley Crue always put on a good show in their heyday, Tesla is always good too . . . I could go on and on and on...

I agree with Tesla!! They have been great all 4 times for me. They rock out leaving it all on stage. Extreme put on the best show and their live sound was the best. Ozzy's "No more Tours Tour" was the loudest, roughest, and most "goosebumpish" show I have been too. BUT I have to say that Steve Vai's Ultra Zone and G3 (last year ) tour was the best musicianship I have ever saw...just pure emotion and showmanship from every guy onstage EVER. DLR and Sammy was great too...too many shows to think of ...but, you can't compare all of them because each show has a different atmosphere and reason.
Just go for it!

Dude, tell us more about that!!! </font>
Not much of a story really. I was going to Texas Tech at the time - living in the dorms. A guy who lived next door worked security at the old coliseum. He said if my roommate and I helped him out by taking tickets at the upcoming Dio concert, he'd get us free tickets and backstage passes to Def Leppard in Midland, TX (couple hours away). So we did it and a few days later went to the concert. Tesla opened and they were great, as usual. At the end of their set, they all switched instruments and played a couple of Def Leppard songs (can't remember which ones) and the DL roadies came out threw pies at them. It was pretty funny. Then Def Leppard played and they were great too - played pretty much all the songs you would want to hear. I caught one of Phil's picks, but lost it later. After the show we headed backstage, but unfortunately it was pretty lame. Basically the band hit the showers and then stayed on the bus until they left (Midland, TX ain't exactly a real happening place). We did meet Rick Allen and he was really cool - really nice guy. Other than flirting with all the groupies, that was about it. Still, great shows though.

I've been to 3 concerts, VH in '95, Sammy in '00, and Sam & Dave in '02. The Van Halen one was the best of course, but I was only 10 at the time and I wish I could remember it better.

The best shows I have ever been to would have to be (in no particular order)

Van Halen
The Black Crowes
Weezer
Medeseki, Martin, & Wood
Pearl Jam

and I went and saw Testament at a club in Seattle about the size of my living room. That show was INSANE!!!!
