Not only cheesy, but historically innaccurate as well. The movie implies that Pete Willis was canned in favor of Phil Collen in the middle of the High & Dry tour. The truth is that they were well into the Pyromania sessions before Willis was fired, and his rhythm tracks were used on the album even after he was gone.

It was also really lame to manufacture a "happy" ending with their first concert after the Rick Allen accident, when even the most casual Leppard fan knows the bands tragedies continued after that.

It's really too bad they had to lose 2 1/2 members to alcoholism before realizing how it was destroying the band. Steve Clark could still be alive, Rick Allen could still have 2 arms, Pete Willis could still have a job, and Def Leppard might have done another album as good as High & Dry, instead of Pyrotrendya volumes 1, 2, and 3

I noticed it was innaccurate also FORD. In the Def Leppard behind the music, Rick explained the it was a RED Alfa Romeo fucking with him on the road. Not a white Jaguar. The also didn't mention the drummer that was filling in for Rick while he was in rehab from his accident. Also, Rick arm was in the car in the accident, not on the ground. Maybe I'm being to picky here?

They did however get the chance meeting of Pete Willis and Joe Elliot right.

I also think that the guy playing Rick Savage needed a few more lines in the movie. I almost forgot he was in the band after seeing the movie.

I was thinkin' that, too, about Sav. I got a sense of deja-vu as well.

Are bass players a forgotten lot in general? Mike was almost MIA on VH3, IMO--not quite as bad as OU812, but still lost in the shuffle.

Maybe VH1 is saving more material for a sequel, or waiting for the next Leppard album--who knows?

I may be mistaken, but I thought that on their Behind the Music that Joe said they had a back up drummer in place, but never actually used him? Something about how the guy got to their first gig with Allen after the accident as they were basically leaving the stage, and the guy told Joe Elliot that they didn't need him after all.

No, the fill in drummer did in fact play a few shows with Def Leppard. Rick played upfront and the fill-in played behind the scenes. It was the 4th of 5th gig that he missed and Rick had to go on alone. The fill in saw Rick was well on his way and split.

Rick kicks more ass now than ever BTW!!

Here's the story regarding Rick Allens back-up drummer direct from the official Def Leppard site (which IMO is one of the best official band sites!).

"To break cabin-fever of recording, the band plan to eight shows at the European Monsters Of Rock tour during the summer. As insurance, they bring Status Quo's Jeff Rich to supplement Rick Allen's drums. During the warm-up mini tour of Ireland, when Rich accidentally misses a gig, the rest of the band realize that Rick can drum alone. On August 16, they perform at Castle Donington, the first Monsters Of Rock show. In stark contrast to their Reading debacle, the show is a triumph and the crowd take them to their hearts. The final Monsters Of Rock show, taking place August 31 in Mannheim, Germany, is marked by a torrential downpour that lasts exactly the duration of Def Leppard's set."
