I hear ya FORD but IMO he did a good job , I really dig Rob Halford , but I feel that Ripper fits better in Priest than Cherone did in VH .

After seeing Halford live a few days ago and hearing some of his new songs, and after buying Jugulator to discover than 80% of the tracks are filler, I tend to agree with FORD.

Judas Priest IS: Rob, Glenn, KK, Ian. Any questions?

Ripper Owens? Yeah right. Might as well have "Hellion" Jones next or "Living After Midnight" Smith.

When will these bands learn? You can't replace a legendary frontman with just any old wannabe and pass it off as the same band.

Can't say I've listened to Priest at all since Ram It Down, which is a great song by the way. Frankly, I don't know any of the circumstances behind Halford leaving the Priest, but I think he should return to the fold.

I don't think Halford will come back to Priest anytime soon.

I think Ripper Owens is good too. Yes, but there's only ONE Rob Halford. That we can not change.

But Ripper is as close to Halford in terms of singing as you're gonna get. Heck, a movie based on his coming into Priest is coming out in October called "Metal Gods". It's based on Tim Owens' life where he worked at a furniture store and sang in a Judas Preist tribute band before getting his dream gig as Priest lead singer.

Mark Whalberg and Jennifer Aniston star in the movie.

Hey, I suggest you guys buy Priest's latest live album of a few years back ('98 Live Meltdown). Owens does a fantastic job on the Halford-Priest songs.

I admit that Ripper is a MUCH better fit to Judas Priest than Blaze Bailey was to Iron Maiden, or Cherone was to Van Halen. And yes he's got a very good voice. I love the song "Burn In Hell" on Jugulator.

That was cool what you said about RIPPER Spanish Doc , your a cool guy . I just think it is cool to see RIPPER sing in his favorite band , he grew up on Priest , was in Priest cover bands and he is singing with his favorite band . It would be like being able to sing for Van Halen ya know , not that I would want to BTW , how is Halfords new cd , is it industrial ??anyone know ? I really like him in FIGHT .

I think the Ripper Owens version of Priest is simply a different band. IMO there's no way you can compare him to Rob Halford though.

I just played a private party two weeks ago and the other band that played had Scott Travis from Judas Priest on drums. He lives here in Va Beach, so we all kinda know him. He's a nice guy. He plays in a for-fun cover band called Plastic Eddie.

Never liked Priest very much, always thought Maiden was way better.

You know, all this recent Judas Priest talk + having seen Halford a few days ago convinced me to get the latest Rob Halford album as soon as I can see it! I have the title track "Resurrection" on MP3 and it ROCKS!!! My icq is 1201811 for those who want the song.

Hey Doc, I hear the song is 'Classic Metal' in the truest sense.

Does it sound like old Priest stuff?

I just visited Rob Halford's official site. I read a review of the new album and even read some of the comments made by die-hard Priest/Halford fans in the Discussion Forum.

The consensus is that the new Halford album simply kicks ass. Fans are celebrating the return of 'the Metal God', as in Rob Halford. Fans are even saying stuff like, "when I saw Halford open for Maiden that night, it became clear to me that Halford was the heart and soul of Judas Priest and that there is only ONE".

I think Tim (Ripper) Owens has done a good job with Priest, yet I can't say I don't agree with these fans. Halford is to the original Priest as Roth is to the original Halen.

But, I'm thrilled that the new Halford album is getting rave reviews. People are signalling the return of metal, 'snatching it back from baggy pants, baseball cap wearing fools to the original leather and studds'. I loved that quote.

"Resurrection" is a fitting title for Halford's new one, as it refers to himself and the overall Metal scene.

IT's time to "SCREAM WITH VENGEANCE!!!"

    Metal is back.

....now if we could only get those boys on 'Howdy-Doody Mountain' to come out..
