Hey, does anyone else love this album?! I've been listening to this album a lot in the last two months. My favorite songs on it are Stages and Can't Stop Rockin'!! Can't Stop Rockin' is probably the hardest rocking ZZ Top song ever imo.

I also think Planet Of Women and Sleeping Bag are great!

Although if I was the only guy on a planet of women I doubt I would be complaining.

I'm not a huge ZZ Top fan but Afterburner kicks some serious tail . I also really dig the Antenna cd

Afterburner's a good album, but their early stuff is where it's at! Some great videos, too - in fact, "Stages" reminds me of Challenger, because I think it premiered the same day we lost that one. Saw them in concert a few years ago and they cranked!

I heard a rumor that if "Planet Us" doesn't happen, Sammy's going down to Texas to form another supergroup called "Chee-Z-Top"

That would be cool....maybe Chester Cheetah could be the mascot on the 20 million bottles of Tequila Sammy sells in 2002.

I like the Stages video, but I think the video for Sleeping Bag is cooler, they're in the ship on the album cover in that one! Did they play any songs from Afterburner when you saw them live?

I saw them about a year ago, just before Dusty got sick. They were great, although I honestly can't remember if there was any afterburner tunes in the set.

I actually remember you posting when you saw ZZ Top Goo. It's good that they toured down there.

Great record! I really dig "Woke up with Wood", but I don't remember if it was on this particular album
".....and Harry Potter and all of his wizard-friends went to Hell for practicing Witchcraft. The End." -Ned Flander's version of reading "Harry Potter" to Rod and Todd.

Yep, "Woke Up With Wood" is on Afterburner. When I saw ZZ Top on the "Antenna" tour, they played "Rough Boy" (awesome) and "Planet Of Women".

I liked Afterburner when it came out, but it hasn't aged well IMO. I still like Eliminator, but I'm more of a pre-Eliminator ZZ fan. Their first six albums are the shit - that sounds familiar.

BTW, has anyone heard about the ZZ Top tribute album that's about to come out? ZZ songs sung by . . . country-fucks. Brooks & Dunn, Alan Jackson, etc.

I dunno - could be good. I'm just glad that someone (Alan Jackson) deemed one of my favourite ZZ Top songs ("Sure Got Cold After The Rain Fell") worthy of inclusion.

Afterburner was pretty good. I'm more of an early Top fan though.

This is the one to have.

Great record. "Stages" is a fantastic tune. I like Eliminator more, though. ZZ Top is so unique...you know it's them 1 second into any of their songs.
All of those Eliminator vids are classics, too. When "Sharp Dressed Man" first came out I got so hot for the ZZ chicks, I was a little concerned that I was a teenaged lezzie. I mean, those girls sent shivers up & down my spine! Actually, they still do...
